I’ve been saying for years that They should spur I-10 to 190 and force semis to take it from Lafayette to Baton Rouge. That would free up congestion on the basin and stop all of these stupid accidents.

As luck would have it, the accident occurred near multiple billboards for one of Louisiana's prominent shysters, so they know who to call to get it done.

I'd bet most 18-wheeler wrecks are not the truck drivers fault. More than likely it's all of the jack asses that think as long as their car can fit in the gap it's safe/okay to switch lanes. I don't like it when that happens to me while driving a regular vehicle. Could not imagine dealing with that from a big truck where that gap is absolutely necessary to stop.

Friend of mine's daughter killed in that one..18 wheeler killed two in two vehicles... didn't slow down in time for construction traffic.

You would lose that bet. At least concerning crashes in the current I-10 construction zone and on the basin bridge.
They fall asleep. They speed through the narrow lanes and clip barriers. In this case it appears they rear end slower traffic in front of them.

That's terrible! I have to travel all over the state and I avoid that stretch as much as possible. Lately when returning from Baton Rouge I've been getting off at the Butte La Rose exit and going through St. Martinville to get home. It adds time to my trip but I know I won't end up crunched by a big rig.
