some individuals inability to drive straight, on a more or less straight highway, will never cease to amaze me

That has to involve some serious high speed

Yea, but cops are giving half the speeding tickets they were 10 years ago so everything is fine.

Second death there in last few years, 4th of July right? 2013?

That’s wild, practically the exact same spot and aftermath scene. I lived in the condos right there at the time, sounded like a bomb went off. Debris flew up against my back windows.

ETA: it was 4th of July 2014

One of my earliest memories as a kid was being driven to 3 or 4 year old pre school from house on park Blvd, going over the Perkins overpass and an 18 wheeler was upside down. I remember my grids dad stopping his car and letting us get out one pick up tin can tops that the truck was carrying. That would have been summer 1977 or 1978…..

Thanks, now I feel old…..

I would think so, but it says homicide detectives are investigating so maybe he was forced off.

like forced off in a road rage incident or something? Im not sure how fast you'd have to be going to go over right there but there isn't even a sharp turn or anything right there. Tragic.

That just means they’re reconstructing the crash. It doesn’t mean someone forced the crash.

Does this guy’s family have any case since the guard rails are on backwards on that stretch of interstate?

Check it out next time. They’re on backwards. If you hit them you flip and roll over the side like this. They should be turned around so the vehicle hits them and stays on the road.

Was at Ivars for saints game, from what I was told it was 2 young guys coming back from hunting trip. Deer corn everywhere. One passed, other in critical condition. Sad deal

I lived right by there the last time this happened. It’s probably not as hard as you think to drive over that short concrete wall that’s angled if you hit it the right way. I’m surprised they always land in the street and not on top of a house or business.

Is that right in front of George’s?

Between Overpass Merchant and Ivars.

I was wondering why that cop was blocking Perkins road in front of Overpass and Digioulios this morning.

Was right across from my house.

The red banner in the photo is the hardware store.

Yep.

He was a true a-hole. Nearly killed his girlfriend and her baby doing what he did.

I was invited to meet up with my sister and BIL at ZeeZees that night. If I'd have left when they called me, I'd have been parking and probably walking right under where that a-hole fell at the time he fell.

So what happened 4th of July a few years ago was he was racing to the Lake from False River. He was weaving in and out of traffic trying to keep going at a high speed. When he crossed the lakes and got on the part of I-10 that is land, he got on the shoulder to pass traffic.

The land ended, and the elevated interstate began. He didn't get over and ramped off the wall of the interstate, and fell between the two segments.

I don't know what happened today, but I'd lay good money the same thing happened.

It's a pickup truck. High center of gravity makes it a built in flip mobile. Probably driving it like a NASCAR Driver like so many idiots in pickups do.
