Would you trade for Justin Fields?

Hypothetically, lets say we get the 12th pick from the Texans for Payton and the Bears fall in love with Bryce Young at #1. Would you trade the 12th pick for year 3 Justin Fields?

12 is rich.
Maybe Michael Thomas and a 2nd.

Haven't seen anything from him that makes me think he's worth a FRP. Plus he'll be due a new contract in a couple years.

I’m friends with several bears fans in Chicago and I’ve never heard them this optimistic. They love fields, he must have something.

I'd definitely make that trade.
We'd need an innovative OC, and this would probably take away the need for taysom

I think I read on here somewhere that Fields' year 2 stats line up almost perfectly with Josh Allen and Hurts. Not saying he would make the same year 3 step as them, but it would be a hell of a lot more fun watching him play than Dalton.

Nah, Running QBs don’t last look at Lamar Jackson this is probably the beginning of the end of him

Cardinals pick third, and no, I'd not trade that for him. I'd trade lesser assets but not a top 3 pick in a nice class. For that I'd rather take Stroud.
Fields, to me, is the kind of QB you need quality staff before getting him. A lot of tools, but he's just not an advanced passer of the football at this point in time. Need offensive-minded HC, quality OC, and great QB coach to tap into that potential.

Dalton last year in Chicago to New Orleans this year...
Comp %: +3.6
Td%: +1.4
Int%: -1.4
Passer rating: +18.3
QBR: +17.6
Maybe part of it is where he's at

There’s a reason Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers type QBs last so long and are typically the most consistent it’s because they don’t take the hits these athletic types do that run the ball all the time. They usually Peter out after about 5-8 seasons if your looking for long term success I’d look for the prototypical pocket passer type that uses legs to extend plays and get ball to his playmakers

Obviously no one would trade #3 for fields. Surely OP meant Houston's #12.

Yeah, I fixed it. Meant Houston at 12, which is right outside of the range of one of the top QBs.

Fields is a dynamic runner and an average passer on his best day. You know who else does that? Taysom Hill. Both quarterbacks require an OC that knows how to use a running quarterback in the NFL and not get him killed halfway through the season.

Oh no doubt. Still doesn't scream franchise QB and that is what we need.

Justin Fields is a less effective passer than Zach Wilson, he just happens to be one of the more electric people with the ball in his hand. You don't tie your future to that imo.

If Payton were still here, I may consider a trade but still wouldn't use the 12th on him. Without Payton, I want nothing to do with a QB like Fields until the team has a proven OC.

Bears offensive line started the season at the bottom and has improved.
