I'm a Purdy fan, but let's not pretend he isn't working for one of the best offensive coaches in football whose system is known for being VERY QB friendly. Purdy would live up to his Mr. Irrelevant tag if he were in New Orleans.

Shannahan traded (3) firsts, (1) second, and (1) third for Garrapolo and Trey Lance. Gave Garrapolo $137 mil. Drafted CJ Beathard in the 3rd

That’s a lot of fail for the best offensive coach with a QB friendly system. I’d shift more credit to the QB here

Carr would be better than Purdy in the San Fran offense. Other than maybe Mahomes/Allen all QB's would look meh with the Saints O-line playing like they are right now.

What makes you so certain? LV has a decent O-line, the best RB in football last year, and a top 3 WR.. Carr made them look like trash. Ohh no I forgot, its the Raiders' fault Carr has always been trash. And its the saints play calling Carr is trash. Or is it the O line?So many excuses for him its hard to keep up.

These threads are always the best ones out there. Who would you rather between 2 players/choices? Hey look, someone thinks like me they are the only other smart posters around.

You’ve got it backwards. I’m fascinated by how many saints fans disagree with me on Carr. It’s like we are watching two different people.

The weapons Purdy has are absurd. The 49ers did a masterful job surrounding him with studs at all positions.

Purdy has to be Matt Mauck

Purdy is trash under pressure

Stupid OP but bad timing

quote:
The Giants blitzed Brock Prudy on 33 of his 39 dropbacks (84.6%), the highest blitz rate in a game in the NGS era.

Likewise, Purdy averaged the fastest time to throw of his career (2.34 seconds).

?? Purdy vs Blitz: 20/31, 247 yards, 2 TD

I'm going to nitpick here because there is a HUGE difference between blitz rate and pressure rate.

These are the blitz numbers. What were the pressure numbers?

Edit: Just a for instance, there have been games where a team barely blitzes and gets tons of pressures, and games where teams blitz constantly and get no pressure.

This is a better "proof of point" in favor of Purdy being a bit more than just a product of the system.

That doesn't disprove that the system doesn't make him way better, or that he just fits the system better than those guys, or that maybe 2 of those guys just couldn't grasp nfl concepts.

Garrapolo wasn't bad in his time there either.

There is also the Foles effect to take into account as well. Sometimes guys comes in hot because they are pretty unknown, and once teams nail down their weakness(es) their flaws start to show.

All that to say we don't really know what Purdy actually is yet. He could be the next Brady, or the next Foles. So no point asking these types of questions yet.

Time to throw is indicative of pressure

Nonetheless he’s seeing pressure on 40% of his drop backs (6th most in the league) and is leading a top 10 offense.

Not sure where you got this from but it seems incorrect. That may be the blitz % from the opponents, which again isn't the same thing as pressure.

His actual pressure numbers are here:

LINK

Seen by going to advanced passing and clicking pressure.

He faced pressure on 16.6% of dropbacks last year in 5 starts (9 games), and 26.3% of drops backs in 3 starts this year.

Purdy doesn't even make a million a year so easy choice

If we're talking money Baker Mayfield is a million times better deal than Derek Carr.

You think you are going to statsplain me

Every site records pressures differently. You can look at football reference and see he’s 7th in the league in their pressure rate and has the shortest pocket time in the league at 1.3 seconds. It corroborates he’s been under duress more than nearly every QB in the league. Do you want to argue that or do you want to continue to wrongly be the ackchyually guy

If that’s the case why didn’t Lance and Garapollo out of the numbers of Purdy? The kid is special.

All Purdy does is win, so Purdy.

But I’m glad we at least have Carr.

I'll pick Purdy he cost about 750k a season Derek Carr is 40million
I'd rather spend the money on weapons instead of game managers.

I'd rather have his interior line.
