Why would Kenny Pickett’s smallish hands stop us from drafting him?

I keep hearing this thrown out there. Did he mishandle a lot of balls and/or fumble a lot in college? Are there stats and facts backing up these assertions?

I don’t understand why that would stop us from drafting him. He and Sam Howell are dripping with confidence and swagger, and they were very prolific in college.

He won’t be there when we pick so it doesn’t matter

Burrow also has small hands for a QB and he’s doing ok.

Burrow has 9” hands. They’re projecting Pickett to measure 8.5” at the combine. Not sure how accurate that’ll be

Here is the list of QBs with hand sizes under 9" since 1999:

Kevin Davidson (8 1/4")
Connor Halliday (8 3/8")
Tyler Wilson (8 3/4")
Zac Thomas (8 3/4")
Jordan Lynch (8 7/8")
Dustin Vaughn (8 7/8")
Brandon Allen (8 7/8")
Jake Fromm (8 7/8")
Kyler Shurmer (8 7/8")

I'd love to know his fumble percentage in college.

I've seen people with big hands have a high fumble rate.

Carr and goff both have small hands and have a pretty high fumble rate.

I think it has more to do with pocket awareness. Goff had very bad pocket awareness.

Small hands have their benefits. Pickett can thread a needle and pick an olive out of a jar with ease.

Burrow 9"
Taysom Hill 8 3/4ths
Being smaller than that is definitely becoming a problem.

Seems to be a huge falloff for NFL success if your under 9.
Hopefully the locker room is not too rough on them lol

Have you never thrown a regulation sized NFL football?

Bc he isn't projecting like Mahomes and Burrow did coming out of college.

Other than those 2, show me another small hands guy that had an NFL career that you would like to see Pickett have in New Orleans?

Jared Goff was 9" also. He's probably the one I've heard mentioned the most for the small hands = bad QB argument.
