couldn't believe that shite when I saw it. The Bills are usually a pretty conservative organization as well. fricking weird.
I thought it was a joke. They have the best young QB in the league and threw a yacht at a guy who hasnt had 10 sacks since 2018. And thats because DE’s decline in play at 30. Von Miller is an exception and still a great player, but im talking 2 year 30mil type guy considering his age. MAYBE 40mil.

You’re not allowed to say anything negative or criticize the Saints organization on this board.

Trust me, this I will tell you.

We said this 10 years ago but he is still doing it. At this point, I’m convinced that he and his team can make anything work at anytime and it won’t come back to bite us because he can just maneuver it again.

I agree.
And Mickey Loomis is a great guy and the nicest man you’ll ever meet.

But my issue about the great job with the cap space

Is why can we only have one WR, no TE, defense that has been historically horrible before last year

SuperBowl winners have multiple weapons on offense and defense

I just hope we sign Watson

You kind of answered your own question. What he is doing is pretty much what cap wizards do. You think he is more likely to convince Armstead or the other guys to play for 1 million a year?

sadly for the OP, he is serious.

funny how everyone thinks Loomis is the only one that does this. it is the nature of the business

The real Sad part is, although the Saints have been competitive they haven't won much lately. Loomis has been kicking the can down the road for years and the bill is due. If he wiggles his way out of this one he'll be justly recognized.

I feel like all of you guys who keep saying "kick the can down the road" are legitimately retarded.

Dude is a numbers cruncher. He restructures to manipulate the cap. And with the cap increasing yearly o
it lightens the load. People been making the kicking the can comment for the last decade. Yet here we are under the cap and still competitive.

Call anyone what you want, shows you are blind.

Loomis has pulled off some very respectable caps, this one will be epic. But coming in under the cap is one thing. Winning a championship is another.

With 4 playoff wins in the last decade. No more than one in a season. Most teams would love the Saints record. But they are easily forgotten.

I personally enjoy going on Rotoworld, etc. and reading the term “cap hell” over and over in January, then in March we’re 30 million under.

Because he's leveraging future CBA Increases for now. The only time it hurt was due to COVID when the CAP was stagnant and didnt grow.

He's essentially hedging the NFL will continue to grow.

Ironically, it had been bad for years because they kept throwing big money at players that didn't fit: David, Byrd, Browner immediately jump to mind.

Also they were top 5 in 2020 & 2021, and middle of the pack (10-20) in 2017 (10th), 2018 (14th), % 2019 (13th). So, while they have had some bad defenses, they really haven't been horrible in over 5 years

He's also very methodical in how he does it. He makes just enough room to get under the cap. Then makes just enough room to sign any FAs they negotiate with. Then again, just enough to get the draft picks under contract. Until Watson became a reality, there was a good chance we'd have been at the cap in 2-3 years.
