Dude's just moving cap space to the following years. Kicking the can down the road. Why's he being celebrated for being fiscally irresponsible? Kind of a microcosm of how Louisiana does things.

You have to get your owner to agree to write huge checks ahead of time.

Saints front office also started using the dummy years.

Well he’s been kicking that can since the early 2000’s so I guess he’s pretty good at it.

I’d argue that the Saints are actually one of the trend setters on working contracts. It’s common place now what wasn’t years ago.

That’s not really exactly how Id put it, but I’ll admit it never gives us the opportunity to throw 120mil at a 33 year old DE.

If the road doesn’t end and you like kicking cans why would you ever not kick the can?

I couldn't believe that shite when I saw it.

The Bills are usually a pretty conservative organization as well. fricking weird.

Nobody does it like Loomis, nobody.

It makes perfect sense if you believe the cap is going to continually expand, you are at a competitive advantage in the current year but theoretically at a disadvantage in future years. As long as revenue expands and the cap expands he will be fine. Also not guaranteed contracts helps a ton, you couldn't do this with NBA style contracts.

The Von Miller contract is basically 3 years at $51M. The big cap year for the deal coincides with the new NFL TV rights deal (2024). After that year they can move on if needed.

The Bills are just loomising bc they are in their SB window - keep charging that AMEX, yo.

...cause he's been able to do it for about a decade.

Obviously there is a cost. The plan was always to accept that cost at a time we weren't capable of competing anyway.

Because everything always goes up. We can't have lower prices you know. That would be bad and our masters love stealing our wealth via inflation. Loomis is just playing the odds. One day when this bullshite economy crashes no one will give a shite about "professional" sports. Finding your next meal will be priority.

Enjoy while it lasts...

His monies capability is second to none. His prospect capability is… well…. lacking.

Thank you Ireland.
