Howell was still there pretty late. We didn’t want a QB.
We wanted a stud WR and we got one.

If we were just trading those players and not draft picks, I’d think the team that got Olave won.

Olave is the best player by far of all of the players listed to this point.

The player’s Washington took weren’t the only players an available with those picks. Plus it included a top 10 pick in the 2023 draft

I'm lower on Olave than most people and even I see we clearly smoked them in this trade

The best of Olave is yet to come. He’s a player.

Jag means just another guy not the actual team

I don't think it's correct to grade a trade like this on the players another team selected with the picks. Those are not likely how the saints would have picked and the two teams had different needs.

Would any of those players the redskins picked be better than the saints players in those positions? I am fine with the trade because the saints had a bunch of low talent bottom feeders a WR when that trade was made. WR was a very weak spot for the saints at the time.

You're thinking of the trade with Philly that the Saints ended up using to get Penning.

That trade also included the Saints 2nd round pick in 2024.

We got Chris Olave. They got Jahan Dotson, Brian Robinson Jr, and Sam Howell.

I think they definitely won. This is example number one million why you don’t trade up in the draft.

Howell I’d be surprised if he starts past this lame duck regime’s last season.

I disagree on this one.

I think Howell will be around the league for a long time and have some really good seasons during his time.

The saints won this very bigly. Cole Turner has like 13 receptions, Sam Howell lol, Dotson traded. Robinson an everyday rb. To think the Saints lost this trade in anyway is retarded.

I want Jayden Daniels to succeed so if they drafted quality players…. I’m happy.

Again the players Washington drafted were not the only players available the Saints would not have been forced to take those 3.

Saints could’ve had

OJ McDuffie or Tyler Smith at 1.16
Jake Ferguson or Romeo Doubs with the Robinson pick
Tariq Woolen, Kyren Williams or DaRon Bland with the Howell and Turner picks

It’s a bit more nuanced than you want to present.

Except for the biggest whiff in NFL history

Sean Payton not trading up for Patrick Mahommes

Especially when we had a history of trading up for busts

The biggest whiff in the history of the NFL

Olave ranks 16th in NFL total receiving yards in his first two years in the league. Who would have those numbers if the Saints had not drafted him?
