What's your walk-away number for Ingram?

Was reading an ESPN prediction article that had him averaging 3yr/18m when signing elsewhere.

I'd love to get him back at 4.5m but if we're presented with 6m to keep him here, I'd take it.

6.5m+ is probably my no-fly zone.

Good to know your thoughts on the matter.

I just hope he's a Saint next year. That's all I really care about.

ETA: I wasn't the one that downvoted you, BTW

I think anything over 4/year is too much. He’s getting too old

I am probably around the 4.5 million a year figure also. I think we all know that the quote hometown discount doesn't exist.

There are two buyers on the market.

1) You pay for what you know. So you overpay because you are afraid of having to find someone to be a new fit.

2) You are desperate to fill a need or void whether that is real or perceived by the fans.

I have no issue with the 3rd year as a club option. I might offer 3 years/14 million and structure it as:

1st Year---6.5 million
2nd Year---4.5 million
3rd Year---3 million

Damn.

Am I really the first one?

I'm going to bask in this.

Anything over $4.5 and you have to consider letting him walk.

3yr/18mil is too much for too long for his age. Hey id do a 2 year 10mil, but he prob wants more commitment for his age.

Idk this is gonna be a tough one for the front office. Because they dont want him leaving just as much as the fans dont. Also, having him keeps Kamara fresher throughout a full season. There wont be a better RB on the market other than Ingram for what would be in our price range.

Idk, Ingram is getting up there, but he hasn't had the type of workload that is concerning for a player in his later 20's/early 30's. We've always split up Ingrams duties between a few backs.

I hope we resign him, but it's really going to depend on what he sees in the open market

No way I give him that. YPC was down again this season... 3rd straight year.

His production can be replaced for a lot cheaper, but team chemistry might get him 2/10.

I wouldn't go over 5 a year.

Have to go by usage instead of age here.

He hasn’t had to be a workhorse RB. 3/18 is fine IMO. Hopefully they can do 3/12 or even 3/15.

We live in a salary cap world. Saying all you care about is him being on the team is equal to saying you are ok with paying him any amount of money.

That just doesn't make sense.

I think a 3 year deal in the range of 15, with 12 guaranteed keeps him.

Half a million bucks here or there is not going to make or break us. He's worth overpaying to some extent because we have zero margin for error in what may be our last (or second to last) chance with Brees.

I see where you head is at, but that's not how Loomis does contracts. 1st year is always to lowest cap hit. It would make perfect sense for us in 2019 as well, b/c we're trying to bring in as much talent as possible for a SuperBowl run. I guarantee that Ingram won't be getting anywhere near 6.5 mil in 2019 if he re-signs here.

Hard to answer without knowing how flexible (if at all) Brees is to adjusting his deal.

To me, this all depends on if Drew takes a paycut

I would offer him 5M for four years.
