only thing he has messed up on is not starting Tyler earlier

I think it's highly likely his assessment was Tyler needed some time to get up to speed and not get mentally and physically destroyed while he figured out how he was going to keep him alive. If it works out, he did exactly what he needed to do and this could end up being A++.

As of now, B+

Yeah if we end the season 5-12 or 6-11 and have number 9 pick whatever, but we end the season winning 5 of 9 games and we’re confident in Shough as at least a mid tier nfl starter then I think it has to be an A.

It’s way too early to come up with a meaningful grade, but I’m somewhat optimistic…

But seriously, I think it's too early to grade.

I give him a solid C+/B-. It’s kind of hard to judge in our current circumstances.

He knows he’s in a rebuild and he’s evaluating and putting a foundation in place. I like how the team is playing hard. I like that he’s working with Loomis in trading away players like Penning & Shaheed for future assets. The offensive scheme looks good even though we don’t have the best players executing it.

There’s a couple of decisions like not going for it on 4th down, not using timeouts and not running the ball enough in certain situations or games that give me pause. But I feel like some of that is him feeling out the team and learning on the job.

I’m a little worried about Brandon Staley’s scheme more than Moore as head coach. But we need better players on defense overall too.

shittiest roster

This same roster was 5-5 with Derek Carr last season and likely has 1-2 more wins this season if Rattler doesn’t start the first 8 games. It lacks A + talent but this talking point doesn’t add up.

I would say he's met expectations for the most part, but they weren't that high to begin within.

The W/L doesn't bother me but what i'd like to see is stealing a W against a quality opponent. We beat the Giants and the Panthers. Were blown out by Seahawks, Buccs, Rams and relatively close losses against Bills and Pats.

The best teams we'll play the rest of the season are Buccs, Panthers, Phins and there really is no reason we shouldn't at the very least go 4-3 to finish the season. Is it better for Kellen to win as much as possible to close the year or is it better to prioritize draft picks?

Another factor is what is management requiring him to do to keep his job and how quickly does he have to do it? If he has to make the playoffs in year 3 then he's gotta do the best he can with most of the players on the roster right now. If he's gotta make the playoffs in year 4 or 5 then I wonder how many of the current players are part of that plan.

He has a solid B. Doing the best he can with what he has. The fact that he has the locker room still and guys behind him playing hard warrants an A. Lack of wins drops him a B. The name of the game is wins.

I do believe he is the right man for the job. He handled the Rattler/Shough job perfectly. He could probably have more wins if he went with Shough. but dispelled any QB controversy by seeing and letting everyone else see what we had in Rattler. Now Shough sinks or swims and there will be no back and forth.

B-. Considering the mess he walked into he's done well. Some of situational decisions (time outs etc.) make me scratch my head though.

C, this team plays undisciplined football, commits dumb penalties (especially pre-snap penalties), terrible special teams, and shows poor fundamentals in run-blocking and pass-blocking.

You obviously haven’t seen the Jets, Titans, Browns, or Raiders. The bags are embarrassing, but those other teams may well be worse.

We’ll see how the season plays out. I don’t think the difficulty of the saints schedule the first half of the season is being given enough credence by a lot of people.

We aren’t good but that schedule made us look worse than we were. Not only raiders, browns, titans and jets but you can throw in the Commanders, Bengals (especially they shut burrow down), giants, falcons, cardinals and dolphins as teams that by the end of the year I think we will be viewed as just good as if not better than.

B-/C+

You still see him do rookie coach things with time management, but aside from 2 games - we've been competitive.

The play designs have been questionable at times, abandoning the run early on, etc.

I think part of it was rattler, but the team keeps playing hard so that's credit to him and the staff. Executing to end the year with shough makes it a solid B IMHO

Like C+. We’re a little more competitive than I expected but I also don’t think he’s done anything that great.
Hard to judge him with such a poor roster and no premier talent at QB

This is the big one for me!! The effort has been there since the first game. He is definitely the right man for the job!!!

We have 1/2 of an offensive playmaker and that’s Olave. And you’re giving him a D?
