Very rare and he might cave at some point

Hoping the Lions win it all. Because at that point there is nothing left to do than get a HC job. His stock would never be higher

Cutting Kamara, Lattimore, Hill, Ramczyk, Davis plus some other scrubs cuts that number in half. Then extend guys like Taylor and Granderson, and yes void years some guys. You can get there.

Granderson just signed an extension and Taylor is on a rookie contract, so we extend for way more money and that helps our cap situation lol?
JC

Only way out if this mess, is cut the fat, and roll out there with rookies.

Problem is you keep drafting Foskys, Turners and Millers, you can’t do that.

I’d definitely give him the shot to take over for rest of year.

Depends on if Rattler is the QB of the future. Bottom out next year, move as many young vets hits down the road as you can, trade who you can for picks, eat the rest.

BIG IF, but Rattler pans out, you could contend in '26.

People said that about the lions job, also said the lions were equally as dumb for hiring Campbell. It just takes the perfect match.

I always speculated this is why we gave DA the job. Salary cap issues, QB turnover, aging roster…I felt like it was a job he would either prove us completely wrong on his past or he would be the fall guy to help us transition to the new regime.

Instead, I feel like we are now looking for another one of those coaches and have kicked the can down the road.

Per OTC the Saints are $81.4M over the projected 2025 cap
quote:

Cutting Kamara, Lattimore, Hill, Ramczyk, Davis

AK - Saves $18.9M (most likely will happen)
Latt - saves $10.8M (restructure/extension most likely saves more, plus you don't need to replace a player)
Hill - saves $277k (restructure/extension will save at least $5M)
Ramczyk - saves $6M (I think he gets a restructure to then become a post 6/01 cut)
Davis - adds $4.7M to the cap (he's not going anywhere)

If they go with your cuts, the Saints are now $50.1M over the cap. But they could get to around $26M over with the combo of cuts, and restructures in the parenthetics.
quote:

Then extend guys like Taylor and Granderson,

Taylor is on a rookie deal; his contract can't be touched until after next season
Granderson's contract only hits the cap for $11.7M, you may be able to shave $4-5M here

I have been hopefully optimistic that DA is being setup as the fall guy while they work through the aging roster/cap and this is the reason they finally didn't sign that 1 missing piece the team needs this offseason. The Adams smoke tampered down my optimism, but I am back on board as it appears the team backed out and didn't go all in.

This franchise is in way better shape than when Payton was hired in 2006 given the circumstances. As many have stated you only get 32 NFL head coaching jobs and only a handful become open yearly. Many would see this job pretty attractive since you won’t have an owner or GM who micromanages everything like Dallas, Carolina, NYJ, NYG, ATL etc.

You can clean that stuff up pretty quickly if you ruthlessly committ to a full rebuild... the problem is we've been trying to keep a closed window open for the last five years and gravity is winning.

Ben Johnson may not. He has already shown that he is willing to wait out for another opportunity having already turned down Washington.

Ben may not be all that sharp. He turned down Jayden Daniels on a rookie deal.
