The situation with DLP is reminding me of when the Saints had Olin Kreutz. The line was disasterous because the center kept getting driven back or ran over.

DLP has certainly performed better than anyone could have expected, but he's clearly the weak link on the line right now, and it's affecting the play of two pro-bowl guards (at least with Grubbs as I'm still unsure if Evans is hurt still).

Just like DLP subbed in for Kreutz, we need a capable center to fill in for DLP. It doesn't have to be someone spectacular, just a player that can hold his own. The entire line would improve immediately.

I think the smart route would be to draft one. Not sure who the prospects are, but there has to be one worthy of a 2nd round pick, or hell, even a first depending on where we finish.

For the time being, a free agent pickup would be nice as an insurance plan. Not sure who is out there, but DLP just isn't getting it done.

That said, the Saints have thoroughly blown out their previous two opponents, but there will be a time soon where the games won't be a blowout and we will need our line even more as we get into the meat of the schedule.

I think because of his injuries and long tenure in the league, he just couldn't play and wasn't honest about it. The Saints should have recognized this. There had to be a warning sign in training camp or a preseason game.

shite man, do they not make centers that are under 6'2" anymore? Center used to be the shortest guy on the line.

Also found a mock draft that ranked teams after week 4. The Saints are picking 26th and we take

Adrian Hubbard, Outside Linebacker, Alabama

I don't know if this board can handle another Bama player

No kidding. These guys sound like monsters.

Honestly, I want someone like LeCharles Bentley. Dude was mean as frick and was great when he was with us. Still remember he as a rookie popping Warren Sapp in the face.

Not being a homer, but I would be totally down with the Saints getting JC Copeland at some point. He is a monster with soft hands and great balance for a fullback.

I agree that we should draft a center.

But I'm not convinced he's the problem.

I still say that losing Kromer is the biggest problem for this line.

He was a good line coach (and very little else) but I don't believe Grubbs is just regressing because Kromer isn't there. Evans was injured and the expectations for Strief and Brown were never that high. Hate to blame it all on DLP, but the line gets blown up all the time usually from a DT running him over.

Our line is playing just fine. We're 4-0. Why change what works?

Grubbs and Evans are our best lineman, rubberneck. We do not need to get rid of Grubbs.

What does it matter where a player plays college ball? This is the NFL we're talking about here. I couldn't care less if we drafted a stud from Blue Cliff Community College Online. If he contributes to the team, why should it matter if he played at LSU or Bama? It's just getting kind of ridiculous. Someone mentioned drafting Copeland from LSU.... WHY? Collins is 20x better than he is. So let's just keep 2 FB's on the 53 when that position takes less than 25 snaps a game.

because what's working is barely getting by. our run game is non-existent and everytime one of our RB touches the ball, they're greeted by a DT/NT the split second they touch it. Brees has been pretty good with protecting the ball, but you can't expect him to throw it 40 times a game without having a turnover. We need a run game and changing up this o-line is the only way to improve that at this moment

Grubbs had a pretty bad game against Mia.
