We actually save $2.5 mil cutting Evans next year but you are right about Grubbs. We only save $100,000 if he's cut so definitely not worth it.
if he sucks, he sucks, cut him, 11 million saved next two years.

That's what I'm saying. And I love Evans. Hard worker that came from more or less obscurity but the play has to match the pay.

Not being a homer, but I would be totally down with the Saints getting JC Copeland at some point. He is a monster with soft hands and great balance for a fullback.
C. Neighbors is actually a better fit for our offense.

If its the injury, I don't mind keeping Evans because he should recover fine and play at an all-pro level next year.
Grubbs on the other hand, if we don't lose any money by cutting him, I don't see why not. He's getting pro-bowl level money, but he's producing average results. He has no excuse as to why he's getting manhandled.

Ain't no point in cutting him for $100,000 unless someone beats him out of a job. Even if he sucks someone has to prove to be better. If that happens than by all means cut him unless you keep him one more year as the top interior backup.
And yeah I said Evans ain't right and I really hope he gets right, but if he doesn't and you can save $2.5 mil you do that.
It just depends on whether it's a nagging injury that can be fixed or a chronic injury that steals his career.

I still say that losing Kromer is the biggest problem for this line.
I think it's bigger than people want to admit. When Kromer was head coach the offensive line struggled. When he went back to OL coach, they played better. Now he is gone and they are struggling again.
Also, as for the talk about drafting an Offensive Lineman, have the Saints under Peyton not drafted a "High Profile" position with the first round pick? 2 RBs, 1 WR, 2 DL, 3 DBs
We draft most of our OL in the middle rounds of the draft. Evans, Nicks, Armstead, Bushrod, etc.
I'm really surprised DLP isn't having a better year. It's a contract year for him.

And while we hit on some there have also been misses whose names people don't even remember.
I said this going into the draft, just because something did or didn't work before doesn't mean it will always be that way.
Vaccaro was definitely the right pick this year based on where we were picking and what we needed but we should start looking into early round Olinemen because Brees doesn't have much time left.
While the line is holding up decently, if Brees can't find someone in 3-4 seconds he isn't getting ANY extra time this year like he did in the past.

Tennant, Marcel Jones, Alleman and Tiller are the misses. Not bad stacked up against Strief, Bushrod, Nicks, Evans, Armstead and Brown (2nd Rounder)

I'm not disputing it, I'm just saying that based on our history, we won't be going OL in the first round.
All that being said, Peyton and Loomis tend to look at our weaknesses when drafting. DL and RB were a concern when we got Jordan and Ingram. DT was an issue when we got Ellis and Hicks. WR needed an upgrade when we went with Meachem. I don't know if the offensive line has ever been as bad as it is this year, so I don't doubt it gets looked at in the draft.
I'll also say that we probably bring in more OL free agents than any other position besides linebacker. Grubbs, Kruetz and DLP were all Free Agent pick ups. And we brought in Jason Smith this year too. Just a thought.
