I have no idea how credible ole Brad Crawford is, but I don’t buy it. That would go against everything he has done since he’s been here.

He's from the Boston Globe. Doubt this dude knows what he's even talking about.

Title seems very click baity. Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see anything in the article that supports that assertion.

Don’t believe it, taysom at q-back limits Peyton playbook. Taysom at every other position gives the offense more potential

Guy on internet: quarterback with running ability limits playbook.

Everyone was surprised when Hill started after Brees’ injury. I wouldn’t dismiss the possibility.

However what did perplex me was the play calling - lots of under center hard PA which didn’t seem suited to his abilities.

That's one way to tank for a high draft pick

I think Taysom could win some games with Sean Payton tailoring an offense to him, say 6-8, but Taysom is not built to take this team into the playoffs. He's not that type of passer, he's a run first QB but that can only work if you have a legit Defense to keep the opponents score low and I just don't see our defense being able to do that this year after the players we lost, and he does not have that quick strike ability. And you could see how he was not processing fast in the pocket, which left him with paralysis by analysis and he actually waited too long to utilize his legs in several instances. And running ability is what he's known for, but he still had several fumbles. Then you watch Kurt Warner's breakdown and you saw several instances where Payton cut off half the field for him, not to mention that Hill couldn't get Kamara involved in the passing game for some reason. So unless he takes a humongous jump, I don't see him beating out Winston.

Winston is not a slam dunk can't miss starting QB right now, but he would give us the best chance to win, and he definitely has the highest ceiling and not the lowest floor of the 2. Our defense likely will not be as good as the last couple of years, so we will likely be in more shootouts so we'll need somebody who can sling the ball around. Yes there is possibility for more INTs but who's to say if Taysom had to throw it that much and take chances that he wouldn't throw more INTs either, but he is the better pure passer of the 2. Also we haven't seen a fully utilized Sean Payton playbook in about 4 seasons due to Drew's arm strength, Winston would allow him to open it back up.

That will probably change during training camp, if it’s even true to begin with.

This accomplishes 2 things: Entertains Sean with trolling media. Keeps the fire lit under Winston.

If Winston puts in the effort to want to be the Saints QB he will be the Saints QB.

Crawford is a joke on 247. He used to post clickbait articles on the LSU board all the time that were total crap.

Yeah, that's what Sean Payton is known for letting valuable information leak to media he has no relationship with before training camp.

I don't buy it. The man says it's an open competition so I'm going with what coach says on this one.

Not if, as Kurt Warner suggested, he can only handle plays that are restricted to one side of the field
