Mathieu was a beast of a tackler, aggressive, big time play maker at attacking the ball in all phases of game

Cannot argue with this, if he was available late in the draft why wouldn't the Saints consider him?

no thanks. he's undersized for the nfl

Nother Idiot..

He has always been undersized, never stopped him from making plays..

Drew Brees is undersized for a QB..

Sam Mills was undersized for a LB..

People really need to think before posting dumb shite..

The problem is, people look at him in a vacuum and don't compare him to others who will be coming out. He was one of the top 5 best players in the entire country last year but some of you say you wouldn't "waste a pick"? C'mon man. I'd take him as early as the 3rd or 4th and not think twice.

Just look at Janoris Jenkins. He was out of the SEC for an entire year and still was able to go in the 2nd round and he wasn't near the pure playmaker Mathieu is

I would love to see him in black and gold. He definitely needs to get his priorities straight as he probably cost himself millions by just a few good times. But when all is said and done the kid is a playmaker!

he's a hell of a football player.

He can't cover a receiver for nothing in the world. He can create some turnovers and he's a good returner......but terrible in coverage.

Coverage is certainly his weakness.
But he's hardly terrible in it.

You'd have to be a SECRanter to say that.

He's pretty good in coverage. Not great, but definitely not bad. As far as knocking his size, Cortland Finnegan is 5'10 188.. Mathieu was 5'9 175 in his sophomore year. He could put on a little weight and be right around the same size as Finnegan, but more playmaking ability.

Brandon Flowers is 5'9 and is considered a top 10 cornerback in the pros. Mathieu would be a steal even in the 4th round. He has natural talent and instincts for the game. That's why he started right away his true freshman year, with barely any coaching

No, we don't want to draft thugs right now.
