pretty damning opinion if you ask me. If he's undrafted, its really not necessary to sign immediately.

I'm totally fascinated by this whole situation...

It really is just bizarre. From the timing, to the reaction, to the silence from the BRPD and Collins camp.
Just weird.
Just weird.

I mean there's almost no comparable situation.

Your link is from the 29th...
the article on the front page of TD is from the 30th
LINK
But I guess to answer your question truthfully, no, I'm not sure at all.

I had other articles I had read today, but that was the 1st one that came up on google.
From my understanding, he flew back and then the meeting was postponed. He isn't at the draft

A source confirmed that Collins left Chicago on Wednesday and plans to meet with police. He could return for the draft’s first round Thursday night, but that seems in jeopardy since he had not met with police as of 6 p.m. Wednesday.

I guess we'll find out in about 6 hours.
Strange to fly back to BR without knowing you have an appointment.

Florio might be a colossal douche, but he is an attorney. He knows that legal shite. I'm not convinced he won't be drafted, because there are enough teams out there with moral ambiguity that they will get fascinated by the talent and take the chance. I will not be surprised though if he goes undrafted.

Collins is, hands down, a first round talent. If the Saints can get him for less---possibly significantly less---why shouldn't they do so, if they're willing to gamble that he is, indeed, innocent?
We sometimes get so focused on the sensational athlete-related cases---the Rae Carruths, the OJ Simpsons, the Ray Rices---that we forget that such things are exceptionally rare.
For example, was Carruth a guy who had plenty of resources to support his wife and unborn child? Yes, but it's wrong to look at him as anything other than the exception, as most to nearly all in his situation would't do what he did.
While we don't *know* for certain that Collins is innocent, you have to admit it's more likely that he (like many people who knew the victim) is one of many who'll be cleared of all suspicion in the near future.
I think that, when the dust settles in a few days or even weeks, someone is going to have a straight mauler of an OL for less than the cost of a 1st round pick.
Why not have that "someone" be the Saints?

well, first of all, I think it IS exceedingly likely that he was not involved.
That said, it's almost always the significant other who commits the murder. But again, I don't know if that's what he was to her.

That is not much of a statement, not being drafted tonight just means he could fall into the 2nd round.

because besides wasting a draft pick if he is guilty, you risk the PR nightmare. this is a potentially huge event. I believe the NFL brass are really hoping nobody drafts him, because they don't want this image haunting them of a team drafting a calculated killer (for hire).
Plus the distraction this would bring to the team is not worth it. Look at the Michael (I'm dancing with the stars because the NFL hates gays) Sam fiasco from last year. The Rams and Cowboys had too much attention for all the wrong reasons with him, and this is something much more serious and critical

its true. cops come out and say, we think he's the plausible killer but can't label it just that yet so nobody say anything!

I've been saying on here that I believe a GM made this more news so they can get a 1st round talent for cheap. Its a very sad situation and by no means a mother being killed is something to overlook. I think it wouldn't be too far fetched for a GM to know the inside scoop and can get teams to worry that this guy is untouchable.
