Someone will use a late round pick on him if he hasn't been drafted by Saturday.

This is from me - not a source - no way he goes past the 4th - I would look at it mathematically - what % chance do you think Lael can be a pro bowl Guard or RT? What % chance do you think he will be exonerated based on what you hear from his agent?

Then look at a 4th rounder - what % chance do you think he makes the team much less become a pro bowler. Thoughts?

I'm sure aaron hernandez's agent and attorney will still love to tell you about their client's innocence too.

The officer just clarified -- the police and Collins have resolved to schedule the interview after draft, which is why there's no date/time.

Front page of TD says he's not meeting with BR police until after the draft. I don't know what that's about but it seems crazy to me. That decision will cost him millions IMO.

EDIT: Missed the comment about the cops not being ready. I don't believe that. Makes no sense. And doesn't square with quotes in the press from the PD saying they haven't heard from him.

Its really bizarre.

If Collins is completely clear, he would want that interview as FAST as possible, get it all out there.

Maybe the police want him to twist in the wind?

latest said brpd postponed... which still doesn't send out good vibes for me... they are still investigating and preparing to even question a non suspect type non suspect.

Fair enough - let's just say it's 50/50 then - still better to draft him then most 4th rounders.

If he is there at 31 I might would try and trade back. If he is there at 44 I'm taking him in a heartbeat. Fwiw, I thought Robert Meachem or however you spell his last name was gonna be a probowler.

People get very caught up on the "he's not a suspect".

Of course he isn't. They don't have any suspects yet. After they talk to him, that could change. Teams are going to be scared shitless of this.

THIS

"He is not a suspect" is not the same thing AT ALL as "we are confident that he was not involved in any way."

What they mean when they say "he is not a suspect" is "he is not a suspect AT THIS TIME"

I just don't understand why Collins isn't getting WAY ahead of this.

Press Conference, taking interviews and unequivocally denying any involvement.

He's either getting terrible advice or...he doesn't want to talk.

Because it is an investigation for MURDER. Taking a press conference would just be plain dumb IMO.

And they have denied involvement and his attorney said his name would be cleared.

My sister is a D.A. and Saints fan, I asked her what she thinks. She doesn't know what to make of it, but assumes he has lawyers and agents advising him (obviously) and that they must not think this is going to cost him money.

Only thing I can come up with is that his agents and lawyers ARE speaking to the cops and they have privately assured them that they don't believe he was involved and have no plans to charge him with anything.

But if that's true, I would be asking for a public declaration of that promise.
