We've had a lot of wasted 1st rounders on both lines over the years, but I feel pretty confident so far he is not going to be one.

I have been watching him when on D, and I have seen some twitter breakdowns of plays, and the havoc he is causing, as well as how smart he is playing keeping contain, not biting on misdirection as a lot of rookies do, etc.

If he keeps his health, he will be a stud on the DL for many years.

Yeah I’m excited about how comfortable he looks already. He’s quicker than I thought he was.

I'm not shocked. The big worry with him was *knock on wood* injuries/long term health.

Hopefully that 18 months was just an aberration

With the exception of Penning I think the DA era draft picks look pretty good. Olave, Bresee and Taylor look like studs. So does Shaheed but he was UDFA. Miller also looked decent in 1 game. Jury out on Foskey but it's nice to have a few productive draft picks.

Foskey looked slow to me chasing Love out of the pocket.

He was a top 3 ranked recruit coming out of HS (some had him No.1). His production at Clemson was stalled a bit because of injury (and the death of his sister), but the guy had very desirable physical traits. He's been a nice addition to what has already been a good DL. Great to see after two wasted 1st round picks on small program DT.

It seems like for a time the Saints took the approach of being the "smartest guys in the room" and drafted players was non-power programs trying to prove they knew more than the rest of the league. It's nice to see them go back to taking power conf. guys: Olave (OSU), Bresee (Clemson). Of course, they still couldn't help themselves and took Penning

This is not saying much considering how bad he looked in Game 1, but he has improved in both Week 2 and 3.

He was not the primary problem for much of the GB game.

Penning looked ok last year in the game he started he was hurt in. At worse he can start at LG because he can maul people in the run game. He’s a small school prospect that will need time especially after missing most of last year and the off-season recovering.

No shite

He’s affecting nearly every play he’s in the game. If he’s not getting push he’s getting doubled.

Explain why a first round pick who is playing well cannot get more run

The only thing I can think of is that its a long season, he has not played a lot of football over the past few years, has had injuries, and they have other decent bodies at the position.

If he's healthy and not playing more snaps in week, say 10, I will have a lot of questions

Shockingly he maybe looked like the best OL in the Packers game

75% of his snaps are coming on pass plays. I just hope they aren’t taking him off the field on early downs just because. With the way he’s moving out there I’d like to see more. He stands out when you’re watching the game

Was the #1 recruit out of high school. Had a stellar freshman year at Clemson.

Posters crapped all over his selection in the draft.

Guy is a beast.
