re: The downfall of our team in the playoffs has been poor interior OL play

Apparently not to the fricking guy who actually coaches the team
And the draft isn’t over, they could still address WR in a draft that has tons of options left. LB might be more of a stretch

We added Emmanuel Sanders, Lester.
But I also see you’re going to ignore the turnovers and the pressure Brees faced all game.

Outside of Michael Thomas, Brees completes 1 pass for 18 yards to an actual WR lol.
Guess that wasn’t a great spot. He also had 2 turnovers and was under constant pressure
And continue to ignore the running game.
You’re slipping. This is way too easy

Again in fine if they do something with Watford
Otherwise it’s poor roster management.
Pressure & turnovers can be alleviated with guys that can win 1 on 1.
You don’t need a ton of salary & draft pick capital tied up with 4 guys that can play guard

Guard would be one of the easier spots to play a rookie

Run game was fine. Payton choose to go away from it. Put the tape on

I doubt Warford plays at his current cap hit
He’ll take a pay cut or take a walk

Eventually you have to pass the ball. Brees only threw it 33 times. And was pressured heavily all game

I can't wait to bump these threads next year.

Taysom ran well
Find more tape?

I have better things to complain about than another guard. Like locking up Peat, who has been crap x 3, for 5 more years. You can’t tell me he is the best we can do at LG.

Brees went 26 of 33
For 206 yds
Opening offensive drive after the Jenkins fumble recovery:
-Brees sacked on 3rd down. Settled for 3 instead of 6.
4 mins left in the 4th Qtr after the Taysom big gainer to potentially take the lead:
-Brees sack/fumble
in the last 2 playoff losses, the defense has allowed 23 & 20 points in regulation. That's more than enough to win games.
OL has been the downfall

Said that a long time ago but now it's a cool thing to say

You bring up a good point. It might be a situation where cutting Easton makes more sense and also re-working Warford’s deal. One of them is doomed to get cut. I personally think it’s Warford because at least they can try and trade him. Easton also has some versatility with playing center and guard. We also don’t save as much money but releasing him. Either way, one of them is gone

J; now much capital are they gonna tie up with guards?
If you’re going to pay Peat that much money... man it’s hard to justify adding a G at 1.24
McCoy can play G? Great. You have a larger pool of options next year either in FA or draft. Best G or best C & move pieces.
Just how I see it.
This obviously spells the end of the road for Warford. Ruiz brings a very good skill set for our offense. He is excellent in pass protection and a strong anchor. He doesn’t give up much ground in pass protection against bull rushers. We need to keep the pocket clean. He is very smart and doesn’t lose. In an unconventional offseason where FO aren’t able to do everything they usually do to prepare, this is a really good safe pick. If we didn’t find a guard this year then we would have to find a guy next year.

Easton wasn’t that bad once he got his footing last year. And the dead cap hit on Warford is only $5 million, which you can easily eat, unless there’s some camp casualty you want to add.

It may not be the most sexy pick but this helps us when warford or peat inevitably bitch out.
What about the money we spent on Easton? Also making a 1st round draft pick based on 1 or 2 games is very shortsighted. The Oline is and has been one of (if not the biggest) strength on this team. It continually grades out extremely high year in and year out. This would make so much more sense if we had let Peat walk and used that $$$ on a FA.

What was your grade on Queen, dipshit? Did you watch, analyze, study, and grade his tape? What about Ruiz? Bet you watched a lot of Michigan offensive line tape during this time off.

that monster contract with all of $4M guaranteed? that's already been paid?

I know it isn't a big contract but it was money spent last year instead of someone else. Last year was a shite show with Unger retiring though so I can't fault saints for scrambling. It just seems we are throwing all of our draft capital at interior lineman and we signed an interior lineman last year. It has continually graded out as a great line and we did nothing to shore up our weakest link. We extended Peat.
