The Houston Texans have also requested permission from the New Orleans Saints to speak with Sean Payton, per sources. He cannot formally interview with any team until January 17th.

If Arizona puts 1.3 on the table.... does that give us leverage to ask for 1.2? No way HOU does that. No way Payton wants that job without a QB of choice.

No team with a top 5 pick will give it for Payton. They will look to 2024 for compensation or later round picks.

Yeah I agree. But if we are granting permission it’s safe to say the teams know what they need to give to make a trade happen. Seems like a given we’ll get a 1st. Just wonder if we can squeeze anything else out of the team.

Houston also has pick 12. I could see that being more likely than us getting 1.2 or 1.3
Though I honestly cannot imagine Sean wanting to coach the Texans

Arizona may be the exception. They are already committed to Kyler. They dont need a QB and giving him a coach that he can respect will go along way.
If Arizona wants to ruin that by not giving up a top pick which they really dont technically need than by all means. Any other position Arizona wants can be had in other rounds

If we get 1.3, I wouldn't be surprised if we had to send something in return. That's a ton of value for Payton as a straight trade. I'm fine with trading some other pick or picks to get that so we can get Stroud.

Payton/MT for 1.3/Hopkins????????

I mean if its too much then they can go somewhere else. The teams looking for seans services are stacking up.
If they want to go through another Kliff saga thats their call

Only way we get 1.3 is if we throw in a lot of valuable assets. Don’t see it happening.

maybe not but i wouldn't be sooo quick to dismiss idea. BUT, getting their 2nd round pick is very valuable if we're going to also get next year's first instead of this year's.
then Arizona could trade down from 1.3 to recoup the loss of picks given up for CSP acquisition.

While I absolutely agree, they are picking top 5 (often) for a reason. Crazier and dumber things have happened.

All of these being put into public is huge for the Saints

Unfortunately I don't think this gives us that much leverage.
If Sean said "I'm fine with any of these 3 teams, get the best deal you can Saints" sure.
But that isn't what's going to happen. He's going to choose what team he wants to coach, effectively killing any leverage over other teams offers.
The only leverage we have is we can say "we aren't trading you for that" and then another year goes by.

Are we getting botted or influenced by influencers here lately?
Cause this keeps coming up. "If we want a high pick we need to give up something on the deal"
No. We don't. Highest bidder folks.
What is CSP really worth? The 100 million dollar question. Lots want to know or predict.
Answer:
What someone pays.

Nope. Sean has to want to go there. He will sit down with all of the teams, and then he will choose his team. It will be up to the Saints to extract the most from that one team. What other teams are offering at that point is largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
Sean, for instance, won't choose the Texans if they are giving up the 2nd pick. He won't be able to choose his QB, or use that to acquire more assets.

We should demand 1.2 or 1.3, but knowing Loomis, we will get a 2025 6th with us sending out a 7th
Posted on 1/11/23 at 3:07 pm to Fun Bunch
Yes a bit of hyperbole. You are correct.

With HOU in play, we know damn well 1.12 is the minimum draft value required. Payton will have his team give up fair value or literally go frick your fat face for another 24 months. Not sure his cholesterol would survive.
