The rumors are starting to spread now that the player we are targeting is OBJ.

It's all saintsreport and tigerdroppings
and it's all wishful thinking

We can't give away all our value for 1 player. OBJ to the Saints would cripple us.

How is it even possible?

We are under the cap. We literally cannot go over the cap or the deals won't be approved.
We do need to clear money for the early round draft picks and for the 52nd and 53rd players + the PS once the start counting. Only three players save enough for that by themselves: Brees(ain't happening), Jordan(extremely unlikely), and Evans(who we were going to cut before discussing a pay cut that never happened).
Pretty clear we're trying to trade Evans but we are trying to get value. If it doesn't happen he'll get outright cut once we have to start signing our picks.
So that makes me think he may be more of a draft day trade unless someone ponies up now.
So we're likely looking at Bush being dealt soon.

There's no way... OBJ was literally the only bright spot on that team last season. I think their fans would riot. Besides it would cost us, like Ditka-deal levels to get him.

Yeah i feel you, I dont want to give up too much.
But we do have the picks now to pull something like this off...if that is what loomis and SP want to do

exactly. Doesnt make sense to me.

if Evans get traded, that's an awfully big contract some team will have to pick up.
not too many teams pay a guard that kind of bread.
i don't think Grubbs took a cut from the Chiefs when he got traded though.
did he?

quote:yeah, I mentioned this a while ago (a thread about jimmy for OBJ)even if you exclude all of the other factors, there is just simply no way of selling it to your fans...also, he is already a star, and NY doesn't let go of stars. especially young ones making peanuts that add appeal to a potential national telecast.

Really don't think Junya will be with the saints past the draft
Posted on 3/16/15 at 12:41 pm to wallowinit
please link us to even one of these rumors

KC didn't alter his contract. Makes me think some team may want Evans even at the high price but it would likely have to be a contender looking to make a push. There are also injury concerns, which Grubbs didn't have.
Evans is definitely a more iffy proposition. But if we don't trade him we will cut him.

oh okay. Yeah I thought i read somewhere that his contract stayed the same.
Grubbs got a lot of hate on here but I think it had more to do with him not playing like Carl Nicks who had more of a mean streak? I don't know.

The pass blocking was about the same but Grubbs is a far inferior run blocker. He sucks at it.
Crazy thing was his strength was supposed to be run blocking while he was weaker in pass blocking. Kinda like Hawthorne was supposed to be good in coverage.

This is idiotic. There is no scenario in which the Giants trade OBJ.
