Im not a fan of Cruz. Not sure the Giants would even entertain trading OBJ, or what it would cost.

They will not trade ODB. He will be a Giant for a long time.

I see your point on him. I agree he backloads contracts, which is a common practice among GMs. Backload, restructure or trade, cut, rinse repeat. You act like Loomis is alone in this contract game. You push the loomis thing to the point of agenda. Its getting old. If you're hell bent to prove a point on him, go crunch numbers and history on the large majority of other GMs and get back to me with concrete proof that Mickey is indeed a bottom tier, unqualified NFL GM and I will give you your due.

I think Mickey has done a fantastic job of making it all work. Our biggest problem is we've not drafted well as of late, and we've tried to make up for that with questionable FA signings and rewarding the wrong people.

It appears as though Loomis, Payton, and Ryan have acknowledged this and are trying to do something about it. In the meantime, they are working around a Brees restructure which wont screw us later on down the road. After all, don't Flacco and Ryan have bigger cap hits than Brees' current contract?

What more does anyone want? If we have a good draft this year, with an improved locker room, whats not to like? It's not like this team is devoid of talent.

OBJ isn't going anywhere.

Cruz is Eli's safety blanket, im not even sure he'd be on the block.

I'm not a fan of stills leaving but I do like Cruz. I'm not sure what we are looking at right now in trades and draft though. Hopefully there's a good plan in place.

Cruz had what one, two good years back in 2012 or so? He's the answer!

I thought eveyrone was joking about OBJ, but seriously, why would NY even consider moving him?

Cruz is also playing with Eli. Not saying one thing or another, just pointing that out.

If you dont see that everything ive ever said about Loomis is coming to the forefront this offseason

I agree its worse this year but we are in win now mode and have been and will be for the next couple of years.
Who is surprised at this?
We are not building a new team. We are not building to win 3-5 years from now. We are trying desperately to win again with Brees. Being cautious and very prudent doesn't get us back to the Super Bowl at this point. Whats so hard to understand.

Your not a guru on this. Everyone and his stray cat knows we are in a win now mode and that changes what CSP and Loomis are doing.

I will say if all this doesn't show a good result next year CSP his staff and Loomis are all on a very hot seat as they should be.

with Brees' age, i dont think they can mortgage a whole year
no, and I don't think they are doing that.

we're in a win now mode(3-4 year window) and there is clearly a change in offensive philosophy. I do not want to draft a WR, and I've seen a shite load of scrubs play really well in NOLA (jamal jones, terrance copper, etc.)

I think by the end we'll have upgraded our line significantly (adding unger is big and I suspect we go hog heavy in the first 2 rounds), we've upgraded our secondary...our backfield is freaking nasty

things are playing out nicely, but I'm reserving judgement until I see what they've done across the boards...so far I'm impressed, this is the offseason I wanted after 2013 season when I saw the makeup of the NFC division winners.

he went for 1500 in his 2nd year after not playing as a rookie. He has tapered off since then. He's a good route runner, but he's always hurt. and he had drop problems last year when he was healthy. Id still rather Stills over him any day of the week. Age, efficiency, contract, all in his favor.

Cruz makes sense because of a real or perceived need at WR

We're speculating on a trade with the giants

everyone points out OBJ as the most desired player on that roster (even though we all know that's not happening)

cruz as a player that makes sense

but who said we're getting a player?

I've been caught off guard with this entire offseason so I'll let my imagination run wild today

I don't hold grudges. I think Loomis has only had to make one personnel decision since his arrival and it was a slam dunk

Sean Payton

I also think he fits it all really well, and I have nothing but positive things to say about this offseason, but that doesn't mean he's above criticism

those things can be reworked. look at the miami trade. ellerbe had a very sizable contract but part of the trade was he agreed to rework it.
