The Cardinals drafted Josh Rosen 10th overall in the 2018 draft.

he started 13 games that year and played in 14

So they got a good long look at him and thought he sucked, and got the #1 pick.

You keep attempting to make points and failing.

Yes, I do.

The Saints are going to be picking top 5 in the draft no matter who on the roster plays QB.

And if they play Shough and think he's very good, they can draft an elite player at a different position, or trade the pick for a bunch.

If they play Shough and he's not good, then they can 100% lock in on QB.

I said in a earlier thread that as to Tyler playing I think its about his play during the weeks. Does he improve to the point he makes everyone on the team notice. If he can't make Ratt look like the very obvious #2 qb during this season why put him in to start any game.

The #2 QB does not get a whole lot of reps during the week. Only about 10% of the total reps these days, from what I recall, with the reduction in actual practices.

If Shough needs "protecting" at his age, then he isn't the qb for us anyway. Throw him out and see what we have. Sink or swim. The only thing I can see is he hasn't gotten fully up to nfl speed yet so they are likely more protecting the offense from Shough than Shough from playing "too early".

I largely agree with this. I think they’re going to likely do an abbreviated “let him sit” with him though. More often than not guys benefit from at least a bit of this.

While we likely won’t have the benefit of the full year due to his age and likelihood of having a high pick next year, I’d assume they’ll try to make his shot as ideal as possible to see if he can get it.

I was at the game yesterday and it was enjoyable, and I like what the future holds. I’m talking about the rattler vs Shough shite. It’s such a close minded back and forth

Now that you say that I realize how much I know about camp practices but I don't know crap about how a team practices during the year!

I think people are having a real hard time understanding what this season is.
I think only the delusional or the one note “move the team” type fans are having a difficult time understanding.

We’re going to be bad and likely finishing somewhere around 3-14. But bad doesn’t have to mean inept. Coaches get their feet wet and establish the program, put in the schemes we’ll be using for years, evaluate the younger players to see who has that potential and where the real holes lie.

We can finish with a terrible record without being a shitshow. Other organizations are constantly doing both. This is a season we take it on the chin and set the groundwork. If Rattler or Shough isn’t the answer, then next year will probably look similar, but it’s still steps in the right direction.

I didn’t really like the DA promotion, but I could understand the thought process for continuity. Unfortunately that set us back years and now we’re coming to terms. Let Coach Moore do his thing and hopefully it’ll pay off handsomely in a few years.

Josh Rosen started 14 games in year 1. You keep making the worst comparisons. The saints are going to draft a qb if Shough doesn’t come out and show them he’s the future. My view of this entire thing is Rsttler has already shown to be trash. Throw Shough out there and see if he’s a gamer and responds. Rattler isn’t the future, he’s a backup (maybe). He was fuking terrible this weekend. See what you have in Shough and if he gets eaten alive then who cares. It’s a rebuild year.

Call me when Rattler hits 13. Might be by game 20 of his career (he's actually behind even that pace currently). He may actually throw fewer than 9 picks through 10 games though!

Sorry your ability to use your comprehension skills are complete dog shite. The point about Rosen was that a 10th overall pick was used to select him only for him to be replaced by the 1st overall pick the following season.

It's hilarious for anyone to think a project 2nd round QB won't get passed over for a top 5 QB pick next offseason especially with the history of Loomis not seeming to value picks anyway.

Your expectations towards rookie QBs are unrealistic. You refuse to see that elite play from rookie QBs are EXTREMELY rare & that the majority things that get learned about rookies being forced to start in year 1 are their flaws & weaknesses because opposing defensive coordinators will be relentless. You are hoping & praying that he's very good yet his collegiate play as well as the average play of NFL rookie QBs say otherwise.

Yet earlier you said Shough will be given a longer leash because of "muh 40th pick!!!" So which is it?

You’re an idiot on here and have proven to be time and time again. Yes we all get it. You keep bringing up mahomes, Rodgers, love, which all were horrible comparisons. Now you’re mentioning Rosen. We all get the point you’re trying to make you’re just doing a dog shite job making it. I agree, the saints will draft a qb if they are in a position to draft a legit franchise guy. Unfortunately for your example Josh Rosen, he came in and started basically the entire season. They knew and saw what they had in him. They pulled the plug quickly. Which is why i say shough needs to play. See what you have. It’s not that your point is bad. Every fukin example you make is awful.

Only he didn't. He hasn't looked like he progressed at any point at all.

This! He is the SAME QB that he was last year. He he’s had a full season in the NFL, and then an offseason to work on his deficiencies, and he and Shough are dead even……with Shough showing more upside.

I don’t agree with Rattler starting, but I can definitely see the argument for letting Shough sit a few games to see it from the sidelines, but that’s about it. No matter what, you need to see what you have in Shough THIS YEAR.

Shough is not a high 1st round QB that you can just let sit, and not evaluate FULLY in season. If the QB class next yr is as advertised….you need to know if you need to pick one.

I do agree that Rattler is still developing (as Brod keeps saying), but that’s not the point. The point is that Shough has more upside than Rattler….so that’s who needs to be evaluated, not Rattler.

Break down specific plays for us.

One guy was once projected to be the #1 pick in the draft and the other is a 26 year old rookie. I don’t see this great upside with either of them.

We paid for Carr. He was a 10 year vet

Rattler is a 5th rounder. The reason he’s starting is because Carr failed and Haener was a waste. Shough is obviously not ready to hit the ground running. Rattler actually played well today. He will probably never be a legit starter but it makes no sense to criticize him.
