From everything I have read, there are really only 3-4 first round DTs in this draft and Mike D has been saying teams only have 20-23 players graded as first round picks this year. We know the Saints love using their first round pick on the lines and they love prototypical sized players. I think they will wind up trading into the 17-20 range if Bresse is still there. Kancey seems to be falling to us in most mocks, but he is undersized at DT. Unless Carter craters from his off field issues, I think Bresee would be be target.

1. Jalen Carter (5-10 range)
2. Bryan Bresee (12-18 range)
3. Calijah Kancey (25-30 range)
4. Siaki Ika (30-40 range)
5. Mazi Smith (30-40 range)

They won't

But if they did I'd shoot the tv if they traded up for any of those.

If we want a good DT one will be there in the first round. No need to give up pics lol.

What would you do if Carter tumbles do to his off the field issues?

Rather a top 2 RB over a top 8 DL. Give me Robinson or Gibbs over every DL not named Jalen Carter.

I'm not saying I would trade up for a DT, but I think the Saints would, as they have never been gun shy about trading up for a guy they like.

Could see this year the Saints trading back and trying to pick up another 2nd and 3rd round pick. This team needs more young talent and trading back could be the way to go.

We have a ton of picks compared to what we are used to, and if history repeats itself, we usually try to deal these picks into moving up. And while I know the salary cap is a myth, something I believe most of us haven't looked at is that the Saints have always preferred to only have 4-5 picks in the draft to help with reducing our costs for that year.

Kancey made a lot of money at combine
Carter and Kancey will be first off board

They might get Bresse late in first round

Ika is not a fit for the 4-3 saints run

Mazi Smith had a legal issue but I think it was resolved so you might be able to get him with your second round pick

Maybe they could trade back into mid to late thirties and get Ika and another solid WR at 40. Then crapshoot it for DL and OL the rest of the way.

I'd rather the best RB available there than WR if we're going offense.

They probably will since they seem to love doing it...

But this team has SO SO SO many holes. We desperately needed quantity of cheap, cost controlled talent.

If anything they should move back but they will not

Copy that. Just spitballing bc I know mocks aren’t the gospel but I think after the round 1 grade rbs there’s a pile in the next tier that could be had later(rds 3-5) But a Zay flowers or Josh downs type WR with a very late first /second round grade could drop to 40. All horseshite speculation of course.

This is the wrong logic.

If there’s only 20-23 first round players on the board and you can’t get one of them, TRADE BACK
