I think Lattimore, Ramczyk, and Kamara all have the potential to be cornerstone/franchise players. Kamara is particularly impressive because we got him in the 3rd.

I feel like this will be one of the best draft classes we've had in a long time

Players like Lattimore, Kamara and Ram speak for themselves

What will determine the draft class will be players like Marcus Williams, Anzalone, Hendrickson and Muhammad.

In order for it to rank up there with the 06 draft (Bush, Roman Harper, Evans, Strief, Colston) we will need Williams and the rest to become viable starters for a long time. Now I think Williams will be. He's already very underrated but the verdict is still out on guys like Hendrickson, Anzalone and Muhammad.

Marcus Williams deserves to be on that list too. Been fantastic. Greatest draft class in Saints history.

They are 2nd to 06 until they win a super bowl, no way around that

1981 was the best draft in Team history.

It is still POTENTIALLY the best draft class in history. First year amazing! It will take a few years to see if the production continues or they aren't derailed by injuries.

2006
Reggie- only 5 years but his impact was bigger than the 33 TDs he scored, vital to the SB run
Harper- say whatcha will about his coverage skills but an 8 yr starter with a 2nd is a win.
Evans- Maybe the next Saint OL to go into the NFL HOF. He was still starting for GB this year- from a4th Rd pick!
Ninkovich- I give an asterisk cuz he started for NE for 8 yrs, good player but didnt fit the 06 D scheme
Mike Hass- training camp star for a coupla yrs
Lay- nada
Strief- It took him a few yrs to start but still being on the roster 10yrs later for a 7th is a big score
Colston- Hard to top getting your franchise record making WR near Mr. Irrelevant. 10 solid years

Perhaps you guys are too young to realize how amazing the 81 draft was...

George Rogers
Rickey Jackson
Hokie Gajan
Frank Warren
Johnnie Poe
Jim Wilkes
Hobie Brenner

I love our draft, but the 81 draft was simply the best in team history.

You cant compare classes especially after we have seen the full life cycle of one of those classes vs not even a full year for the other.

If you are going to compare them at this point you have to go off the known which is 15 games in.

However if you only use that sample size the 17 class has started faster and done more.

more pro bowls, more wins, more regular season accolades with more on the way with a win tomorrow they will also have matched the best accolade from the 06 team which was a Division Title.

Agreed. He doesn't get nearly enough credit.

Really glad Denver took Bolles over Ramczyk. Both are just rookies, but that looks like a serious mistake at the moment.

Bolles at #20, Ramczyk at #32, Cam Robinson at #34. Looks like the Saints played it perfectly with the top 3 OT's in the draft.

Dion Dawkins at #63 looks like a good pick for the Bills.

I think it shows just how much a crapshoot the draft is.

We've drafted pretty shitty these last few seasons then all of a sudden we have an all time type draft with Kamara/Lattimore/Ram.

Of course you have to give Payton and leadership credit, but you probably have to also realize there's a lot of luck involved there. If they truly had an eye for talent above most other teams, we wouldn't have stunk it up in previous drafts.

Nonetheless, I'd gladly take another all time draft next season too.

You are forgetting 1 ingredient

Jeff Ireland

He has made a big difference in our draft evaluations and strategy

I would concede that had he not been botching drafts in Miami.

We are talking about the Saints, not Miami. NFL front offices are vastly different from each other and just becaus the title is the same, it doesn’t mean the position and decision making process is the same. Based on your logic, Bellicheck doesn’t deserve coaching credit in NE because he notched the Browns coaching job

I think he had pressure to win in MIA and that team had no real direction or QB

For every Dion Jordan ,he drafted an Olivier Vernon and brought in a Cameron Wake

I dont want to say the GM job for the Saints is easy, but you've had Drew, a pretty established Oline, a few playmakers. You really had one job - to evaluate solid defenders and sprinkle in pieces on offense as needed. Loomis couldnt accomplish this, but I think Ireland is competent enough to just not frick this up
