So what's the market for Michael Thomas' extension going to look like?

The #Vikings and WR Stefon Diggs have agreed to terms on a 5-year extension worth $72 million, source said. He gets $81M max. $40M in guarantees.

18M

Whatever it is, just BE thankful you get to pay it to a guy like Thomas and not fakes like Diggs, Cooks, and Sammy WATkins

Yup. Somewhere in that range.

It would be very hard to support that move to give top money to diggs or Watkins, I just don’t think either are that special. Good receivers, yes, but not worth that

TBH, i wouldn't be surprised if he had to play out his rookie deal, got franchised for a year and then the Saints let him walk.

WRs are a dime a dozen and Kamara is going to be due a new deal before both Thomas and Lattimore.

This is why in two years you trade up for a rookie qb.

Then use the savings from Brees retiring to resign Thomas, Kamara, Lattimore, and anyone else.

Absolutely with you, especially if Smith is the real deal. A lot going to depend on continued production and if SP thinks paying top dollar for wr is worth it.

ETA: I think we’d trade him while on franchise. I don’t think you just let a guy who would be a top 10 wr walk for nothing. But I l’ll believe we will pay top dollar to a wr when we see it.

No way we let Thomas "walk".

we'll be soon transitioning to a young qb during those years who'll likely A) have a cheaper contract and B) need a support cast to be successful initially.

Thomas and Kamara, come get your checks please.

Kamara is the guy I would let go if I had to pay huge money too. I honestly think someone like a Gio Bernard could fill his role if he was in this offense.

Eta: Not saying let him let him go, but if it came down to Kamara vs. Thomas.

You are right. Wide receiver from 27-31 has a much higher chance of staying elite than a running back from 26-30.

Looking at their ages when due for extensions.

18m annually.

Kamara gets 12m in a couple.

We can do both.

You fools saying let him walk, wide receivers are a dime a dozen.

No, they’re not. Especially when you don’t have a top 3 or 5 quarterback. You’ll never win anything if you keep letting your top guys walk because they’re too expensive.

The Saints will pay Mike Thomas his money when the time is right.

When you have prime brees. Sure. But we're gonna be on hill by that time.

It's kind of incredible how a few really great drafts solved all our money problems almost overnight (I know this is how it's supposed to work, but it hasn't worked that way in NOLA for a long time. Of course we're going to have a whole new set of problems once this group grows up and gets their first big deals.

Spot on. My thinking as well.
