If the Saints decided to tank for Daniels, they'd end up with someone other than Jayden Daniels.

Daniels doesn't have a criminal record. Not a good culture fit for New Orleans.

Saints have had several Heisman winners on roster but none were really that great in NFL.

He feels like Johnny Manziel 2.0 (on the field obviously), but it legs won't be as effective in the NFL and not sure his pocket passing is strong enough.

I would love to be proven wrong though.

I get it. I see him as a Lamar Jackson type and already a better passer than Lamar was at this point coming out of college.
He'll have to improve somethings, no doubt. The game will be faster, but I believe he has the tools to be successful.

Or,
in my opinion, phrased slightly differently: I'm convinced the roster is not our problem.

I still think he's the best QB in the draft:

https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/display.aspx?sp=110667669&s=2&p=110665354#110667669

He's a top 10 pick in my opinion, so unless the Saints plan on losing out they probably won't be in play. There are a lot of parallels in Mahomes' final year with Texas Tech and Daniels' final year here. By no means is he the "next Mahomes", you never know what a QB's ceiling is until they get to the pros.

You should watch the Johnny doc.

Ability had 0 to do with him not succeeding.

He quite literally never watched film. They were able to see how much time players spent on film, and he had 0 minutes logged.

Jayden is not a partier/drug addict like Manziel was.

Having watched Daniels at LSU, I would have no doubts or worries that he would be able to make the transition to the NFL.

Hell, he's had a practice run already...
3 seasons at Arizona State (a normal college career), then jumped to a completely different team, under new coaches, running a different scheme, against superior defenses. He had some growing pains and some rough patches- among other things, he expected to be relying on a known commodity/star at WR, but that guy's head wasn't in the game so he was out in the cold a few games trying to figure it out.
But he did well enough Yr 1 to hit some team milestones and show promise, and Yr 2 (now familiar with the new system), he's gone off the charts. He was asked to speed up his reads and progressions, he's done that. He was asked to trust his WRs and be aggressive, he's done that too.

That's what he faces going to the NFL, but he's already shown he can handle it. I don't see a reason he'd hit a wall the second time around.
NFL is more complex and harder than the SEC... so 3 years to become a star who understands everything. That's basically the blueprint anyway.

Definitely down for a high upside young QB if we want to try to win a championship

You look back at the history of our draft and from my limited research we have only gone QB in the 1st rd once. Yep, in 71 with Archie.
It's time. There are arguably 5 1st rd QB's in this draft. Why not move to where we need to be to get one? Would like to see JD in black & gold as he reminds me of a young Lamar Jackson (better passer already at this point) and could bring a fresh, dynamic skill set to the Saints.

When you look at the history, you can partially understand why they wouldn’t have used a 1st on a QB. A lot of those years, they made other moves to get “their guy”. Until Brees, it was obvious they were wrong; but you can see the reasoning.

In regards to the “do whatever it takes” the problem is you’re rolling the dice of multiple drafts on 1 player. What if he busts, has a major injury? Who will be his supporting cast when you gut the roster for cap purposes because you traded you draft picks away?

What about Harbaugh? Not sure he will be at Michigan, just sayin he has to be better than Allen. Just throwing it out there.
