Proof you’re not allowed to be objective. Blind positivity!!! BE POSITIVE!!!!

who was the coach then? who was the QB?

Seems to be a big difference between then and next season, dont you think? Wait you dont think.

You got it! That's exactly why he hangs with FO members in the off season and still flies on Gayle's jet with Loomis for a wedding and playing golf?

I think some of us just want to be objective and talk football. I’m not going to lose an ounce of sleep if the saints win or lose. It’s the face painters that rage when we say things they don’t want to hear.

I can respect that - my point is lets let things play out this offseason. We have a lot new. Hard to say its a failing franchise like the Pels and hopeless.

I’m done melting. At least Shough seems like a cool guy. I still think it was a very questionable pick for many reasons but hoping Shuck can prove common sense wrong. God help Mickey and KM if this doesn’t work out

I think you need to just let this play out. Look at San Fran for example. They had Jimmy G who was a serviceable QB. They moved up and traded to get Trey Lance. The next year the drafted Purdy. They took Kurtis Rourke this year. Kansas City took Mahomes even though Alex Smith was the starter.

All that to say, we currently have Carr, Shough, Rattler and Haener. One of those emerges to be our QB this year and they either prove themselves or they don’t. You keep looking for a QB regardless of what happens. We aren’t anointing Shough as the next Tom Brady or anything. A guy by the way who was drafted when they had Drew Bledsoe as the starter.

QB is the most difficult position to project and you don’t know (YOU DON’T KNOW!) who will or won’t work out.

Seems way more likely Sean left because he hated some of our fanbase, like the ones who are melting about the Shough pick

Dennis Allen ain't here anymore either, know why he left? Because he sucked and the front office is doing something about it.
We have a new coach with Superbowl confetti still stuck to the bottom of his shoes. He comes in and hand picked his QB.
But yea lets hang it up. Get a grip. You would be begging for this if you were in Cleveland.

I am letting it play out. Im done melting. As a Saints fan I’m hopeful for Shough and Kellen Moore. We need them to catch lightning in a bottle. Now that I’ve dug deeper into Shuck post draft, I feel better (not great) about his potential.

BUT if I take the B&G glasses off and I’m being objective. Gun to my head, I still think it’s a bad pick. I think our drafts in general have been extremely underwhelming the past decade. I think there’s around a 90% chance he busts. If that happens, It means we had a really tough 3-4 seasons. There’s just too many things that point to this org being poorly run.

You REALLY think the Denver fanbase is any better? All fans have shitty fans. 0.00% of coaches choose jobs based on fans.

That’s even worse and confirms our worst fears. Payton loves Gayle and Loomis, but thought NOLA was such a shithole he had to leave regardless. Never forget he tried to get out of his contract multiple times before “retiring”.

“At least we’re not the browns”
“At least we’re not the jets”

I think we should aim a little higher than this. It’s ok to have some expectations.

Serious question : I hate the idea of any QB you draft almost. Was there one outside of Dart or Ward you would take? Excluding them because they were off the board.

I wasn’t a huge fan of any of them including Ward or Dart. I liked Milroe just because I felt like there was really low risk/high reward. He either develops as a passer or he doesn’t and you can easily move on from him and even keep him as a versatile athlete. But that was mostly before the Carr BS. Milroe needs time to sit and develop. But also I think there’s a world where Milroe could run a simple offense and make an immediate impact right away. I admit I’m a biased Milroe fan because everytime I watched him he nuked defenses. But realistically Milroe was not a value at 40. 70 at best.

Honorable mention goes to Will Howard. I watched a lot of Gruden’s camp and he was by far the best personality on there. I always thought he was a good playmaker but he seemed like douche. It completely changed my opinion of him.

No, but also he left way before he landed the Denver job

Tyler may die on the field. He has shown he will be injured on that field...

2020 (Oregon): Broke his left collarbone in the season opener against Stanford.
2021 (Texas Tech): Re-broke his left collarbone in a game against Texas, sidelining him for the majority of the season.
2022 (Texas Tech): Suffered a left shoulder injury (initially reported as a re-broken collarbone) in the season opener against Murray State, missing at least two games.
2023 (Texas Tech): Fractured his left fibula in a game against West Virginia, requiring surgery and causing him to miss the rest of the regular season.

For the 2024 season, Shough finished 14th in FBS in total yards (3,195 yds) and tied for 22nd in FBS in passing touchdowns (23 TDs) in a weak ACC, Shough crumbles when the pocket gets tight, running scared like a rookie. Worst of all, his throws turn to garbage under pressure—off his back foot, spraying passes everywhere. The local sports media is more sycohantic overall than any in the NFL. Pickling Shougn with a second round pick is one of the worst reaches in NFL history.

Worst case, he and Carr both suck this year and we get another top 10 pick, find a better QB prospect for the future.

Best case, he's the real deal - looks like he's good enough for the nfl and we suck everywhere else enough for a top 10 pick.

We're void of talent everywhere. But a hole at QB will be the end of us.

Moore may have SB confetti, but only the Saints the job of last resort offered the guy. We all hope it works out but nobody else has ever been interested in Moore as HC.

As for hand picking his QB, just last month Moore told us how much he admires Carr and can’t wait to coach him. Either he lied or is clueless on how to read a room, which should make us all skeptical on Shough when most said not to touch.

He interviewed for 3 HC jobs just this offseason.
