per ESPN

Senator to hold Bounties Hearings

Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, says he wants to examine whether federal law should make such bounty systems a crime. He plans to ask representatives of the NFL, Major League Baseball, NBA, NHL and NCAA to testify at the hearing.

The only reason a politician should be making a federal case of this would be a senator or congressman from Louisiana going after the NFL. Making bounties illegal is beyond stupid even for political grand standing.

This is attention whoring at it's finest. All this senator wants is his 15 minutes of fame so that voters in his district will pay attention to him more come re-election time.

What will happen when the public finds out other teams have bounty programs too?

Democrats and Republicans do this all the time. It's not a one sided problem. It is partly to blame for why our country is broke - literally and figuratively though.

FACT

Not a one party or the other problem

and I do think investigating bounties is a much more serious problem than restoring America to greatness so I am glad to see our leaders feel the same way as I do

kinda funny how someone can get arrested for domestic abuse and have to do 48 hours of lockup, pay thousands in fines and attorneys fees, and take alochol and anger managent classes for "touching someone in a rude manner, even if no injury results", yet professional atheletes hit, shove, and throw punches every day and dont get arrested.

Further evidence of the pussification of America.

Maybe Congress should worry about passing a balanced budget instead of holding a media circus for every major issue involving professional sports.

The senator was probably too much of a pussy to play football when younger, now he's trying to open up football to everyone who was afraid of getting hurt.
