Secondary question

Could Adebo or Taylor make the switch to safety? Adebo seems to have the tenacity of a safety.
I'm not sold that our two 30 yo safety's have much left in the tank besides veteran leadership, which is a great thing to have but plays on the field are what is sorely needed.
I don't think there are a ton of great safeties in this draft, though I've read that Iowa's Riley Moss may a quality day 2 pick at CB that will transition to one of the better safeties in the draft. Potentially.
Just thinking about how to improve the back end of the secondary.

Every time I watched the honey Badger last year it seemed like he was actively trying to avoid hitting anyone and yet his stats show he had a high number of tackles and I believe pff graded him very well? Not sure what to think honestly.

Without Lattimore most of the year, and I'm not sure we had our true starters at CB and safety play together a whole game, the saints finished #2 in the NFL in pass defense.
With that said, I wanna draft a safety this draft if a good one is available.

I do think he is more cautious about hitting, though. Probably the result of hurting himself the way he used to hit full tilt all the time. He almost always is at a weight disadvantage.

Don't sleep on Smoke. Had a year to watch and learn. One of the guys I'm hoping can contribute this year.

Mathieu was pretty bad early on, straight up lazy on some plays clearly avoiding contact putting forth minimal effort. Around the half way point of the season he seemed to be more involved and was clearly in the game and putting forth required effort. There were rumors at the beginning of the season of him possibly having marital/family problems that lead to him not having his mind fully focused. Not sure if that's ever been confirmed.

He definitely played distracted the first half of the season. Played much better in the back half. Maybe family wasn't down here yet, new system or pressure of coming home who knows. Hope he starts strong.

I really want to be wrong here, but I believe Adebo is a step too slow for boundary corner. I don't know if it's game speed, quickness or what, but he steadily got beat last year. Looking at an article yesterday that listed top 30,cornerbacks. He wasn't in that group..LINK Maybe safety makes sense, but I wouldn't think strong. He doesn't have the mentality for that position. I think he is more suited to zone coverage, but we play man, and, while I thought his length suited him for that, he hasn't put it together. Now, he did have an ankle injury that limited him last year, but he was bad. Gave up,way too many plays. For our secondary to,succeed he has to do,better this year.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. I'm not sure how Taylor doesn't start opposite Lat this season. I feel like Taylor is the better cover corner but maybe Adebo is more aggressive and looking for the pick which negatively affects his completions against. I also this Talyorbis faster and can stay with faster WRs than Adebo.

Yeah, I agree with possibly supplementing Adebo with Taylor. There may be scenarios where Adebo is better, but on slants and quick outs Adebo is not the guy to win.

Alonte already is a safety of sorts because he played the nickel last year a lot and was very good at it. He replaced CGJ. Adebo is an outside corner and while he’s never going to be a #1 lockdown type corner he is a solid #2. This isn’t a great draft at safety but I would jump all over taking Jay Ward in the middle rounds. His best football is still ahead of him and he can cover but loves contact.
