By staying in the Studio as an analyst for $10M a year, and decide never to coach again, or could wait until his contract has expired to coach a team. Then the Saints won't get any picks st all for him.

Certainly an option..

Same with gruden, these guys have all the money they will ever need.. but if someone wants to coach, it’s not really about the money, it’s about the passion to coach again.

Who cares, Saints need to start searching for DA replacement it’s obvious this team does not buy in to what he’s preaching and doing. Defense looks the worst it has in a few years.

Don’t the saints still attain his rights no matter how long he waits?

Nope. Just the duration of his contract. Through next season

So what’s the excuse the other 5 weeks when he played? Defense has been shite even with him on the field.

If he can, good for him.

I don't really find him good on TV. But, sometimes that really doesn't matter.

There's zero chance he comes back next year unless Loomis has agreed to only ask for a 2nd in return. Sean knows the value of first round picks.

Also, most of his likely landing spots (Dallas, Miami, Los Angeles) are having good seasons.

I could see him wanting to coach the Bears.

This is false and a flat out lie.

You cannot wait out your contract to expire. Once he stepped away his deal was put on ice. If he decided in 20 years that he wanted to coach again, he would be under contract with the Saints.

Some of you just need to stop posting. You can’t just sit out your contract until it expires by retiring.

Player contracts are different.

Coach contracts absolutely can be waited out.

I don’t suppose there’s some sort of verifiable link to that?

I sincerely doubt that is the case, and it wouldn’t make any sense to leave yourself vulnerable to losing a coach just as you would a player.

All I’ve seen is articles saying his contract runs out in 2024 and teams would have to give up draft picks if traded before then. I haven’t seen anything definitive from a reputable outlet that says he can just “retire” until his contract runs out and then come back in 2025 to coach without the team owing the Saints compensation. That doesn’t even make logical sense. I’d have a hard time believing the Saints negotiated such a poorly structured deal
