Could of had Patrick Queen. Swing and a miss.
Haha you people will never go away

I’m 37 and was there when we returned the first kick for a TD in Tulane Stadium.
My man.. I’m afraid that’s not probable.

If Denver had a QB I'm not so sure we don't lose. His performance had the makings of upset. Not looking forward to him playing the Falcons
I would suggest every fan watch Payton’s presser after the game. Saints literally handled the falcons a week ago, and Taysom looked solid.

Taysom played this exactly how I wanted him to play this.” He said he understands it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing.
It’s a weird game to judge Taysom on, and I think there’s an element of not putting too much on film when you don’t have to. Once they figured out a practice squad WR was starting at QB, the game plan changed a little bit.
Payton was on Rich Eisen’s show this week, and Eisen asked if they are treating Taysom like a rookie because of lack of snaps / reps, and Payton said “yeah that’s fair”. I understand how people are frustrated with his play after today, but you also have to follow the signals. He is a cog in the wheel right now. Every week will be a different game plan, and he will play a role that Payton believes puts them in the best position to win.

He helps with the cap, but ireland and payton make most of the personnel decisions.
Don’t forget about Terry Fontenot. Ireland is just college scouting. All pro personnel / scouting is Fontenot. Saints have made some key signing and acquisitions that he deserves mentioning for, and I believe he is in the mix for Falcons GM position. Everything saints front office right now is top level, and I’d hate if things got shaken up.. especially losing someone to the falcons...
Lol this thread is so predictable
I think the whole defense has rediscovered their energy and swagger the past few weeks. If they can keep it up, it could put this team over the top.

It’s days like today when I am come to this board and I am reminded of just how ignorant and racist some Americans are.
The amount of people on this board that are dismissive of black voices and experiences... I really do hope that one day you can open your heart, self reflect, and learn to improve.

Doesn't he make these lists every year, then he gets in the game and....
...and plays pretty solid?
He has his strengths and weaknesses, but If he’s your 5th or 6th best db.. I’ll take it.

God this board sucks so bad right now

Honestly all of his shite talking and political BS made me a little worried about his personality and if we would have issues with him in 2-3 years. It happens with WRs often.
You’re “worried about his personality” because he says things you might not agree with or like?
He works hard, he lights it up on game day, he’s not a trouble maker, he loves the community.. I hope everyone here can appreciate that.

Meh, more comes across that Thomas is kind of a whiny bitch. I can’t imagine MJ whining on Twitter. MJ mentality is going to the gym five minutes after reading that to make them eat their words next year.
Lol if you don’t think CGM lives in the gym...You’ve heard the stories from Payton and Brees. Nobody practices harder than Mike. Nobody works harder. Dude is dedicated to his craft and dominating is a habit. He’s just looking for motivation. All the greats have the exact same DNA.

lol It’s being lauded like we just signed Darren Sproles or some shite
Yeah he could be a solid depth signing, but anybody thinking he’s going to be this productive weapon will be disappointed.
I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think Cantrell has much authority in the decision because the Superdome is a state run entity. It will come down to the Governor and the NFL. Cantrell can talk all she wants but all the city of New Orleans does is provide police presence on game day.

Most Overrated: yeah I don’t really see anyone that’s “overrated”. Although people on this board might say Marcus Williams or Peat.
Most Underrated: I’m gonna go Lutz here. He’s been rock solid his whole career and he’s nailed some game winners. I’d also mention Josh Hill. Guy gets a ton of snaps and is important to what they do.
Best Player: Drew
Key New Addition: Malcolm Jenkins. Saints are facing some tough offenses this year. I’m hoping that having him in the secondary helps them be a little more consistent.
Could Surprise: Cesar Ruiz. I guess it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was good, but I’ll make a bold prediction and say he steps in and is instantly elite. Similar to Ram.
Takes a Leap: Gardner-Johnson / Harris / Davenport
Prove it year: Jameis. He either proves himself to Payton and co or he doesn’t.

All in all he was probably an average starting caliber corner to NFL
This is about what I always thought. He had one solid year in the league. Even before the misdiagnosis, he started racking up the injuries if I remember correctly.
quote:
To say he's meaningless to the team is a bit premature
I wouldn’t say that either, but I hope people aren’t putting too much stock in his selection. The odds are stacked against him in more ways than one, and the Saints have a deep, talented roster. They obviously have some sort of vision for him, but let’s see what the kid can do. Spot on the team is far from guaranteed, much less being some successor to the TH role.
I think it’s fair to say it’s a wash in terms of who’s “better”. I’d love either one as a backup, but give me Winston.
Daltons been on some pretty good teams, and had a few shots to elevate them in the playoffs and never really got there. Dalton feels like a lesser Tony Romo to me. He’ll guide the ship of a talented team, but he’s not taking you where you want to go. Not sure how anyone could ever say Andy Dalton has the “It” factor lol

Peyton, Ben, and Palmer all led the league in INTs at one point. Imagine if they were given up on
Peyton, Eli, Brett Favre, and a few other hall of fame qbs have had seasons with 25+ ints.
Bucs were losing a lot, and they were throwing the hell out of the ball. There were a lot of chances to make mistakes.
I’m not really a fan of his, but he’s got the talent. No harm in giving it a shot.

Winston is an instant #2
Ehh idk about that.

In an interview with WWL Radio, Saints coach Sean Payton said Hill will go into the 2020 season as the team's backup quarterback. "He's earned that opportunity," Payton said,

Obviously that was before signing Jameis, but you have to consider the lack of OTAs, minicamps, offseason workouts until TC.
Unless Jameis can get a hold of it all pretty quickly under these circumstances, I gotta feel like Hill is the #2 heading into the season.
A direct quote from Payton -
“I think the role is pretty clear, and first and foremost, we still view him as a quarterback, and we spent a lot of time this offseason discussing our vision for him this season at quarterback, but then also at the F-position. And what I mean by that ... that slash, tight end, wide receiver, he's a tremendous blocker, he's physical. I don't think people realize how fast he is. He's probably one of the three or four fastest guys on the team. So, he'll play that F-position, he'll certainly be involved in the kicking game. It's one of the things he takes pride in and is very good at. "And then the unique situation with our team and with our quarterback, Drew Brees is, he's announced he's coming back for his final season, I think Taysom sees himself as being a starting quarterback in this league and we do too."

He was inaccurate in a bad conference playing against bad (relatively DBs). Our offense has depended on the most accurate QB in NFL history. You don’t see how that’s relevant?
I mean no not really. Drew had a 61% completion percentage at Purdue..
I’m not saying he’s going to come in and be John Elway, but college stats don’t always predict future success. Players grow and improve. Payton definitely seems to think he’s improved.
