Some of y'all thinking this team is a contender every year and the cap stupidity by Loomis and company is not an issue are hilariously idiotic.

It hampers the team to do anything, and the Saints are about to feel the crippling effects of it this year and next. You don't have a player like Brees to help overcome coaching deficiencies nor talent deficiencies at OL/WR.

You don't have good enough coaching at the DL position to overcome the lack of talent issues and are going to again have to waste draft capital trying to put a band-aid on it. Oh and you lost significant draft capital to draft a Brandin Cooks clone after wasting three 1st round picks on injury-prone DL.

There is the reason that Brees and the Saints only had one Super Bowl in his time in NOLA, and it is and always will be Loomis' arrogance with regards to the cap. He's like the guy that keeps thinking he can just get another credit card once he maxes out his other ones.

Yes, the salary cap is the reason we didn’t win a Super Bowl in 2011 or 2019. It had nothing to do with Gregg Williams and NFL officiating.

This place is unreal.

Well they were way over last year, and they signed Carr. Looks like they can still make moves

Bills were $2M further over the cap w 2 or 3 fewer players signed.

Browns cap is not atrocious. Less than $8M over and Watson’s cap hit is $64M. Loomis that shite since you’re stuck with him anyway and you have a lot of room to work this year

Literally yearly.

Dude is in other threads arguing that the salary cap is “predictable” - then we get an un predicted and unprecedented salary cap increase, which helps the Saints. Apparently he doesnt like it.

Good job whining tho, Karens gotta Karen.

It is, within a reasonable MOE

The % over expected is very slight and meaningless to our cap situation in totality.

which helps the Saints.

Very slightly. The difference longterm is basically meaningless, especially when you consider the corresponding salary inflation.

The cap increase? I'm neutral. It rose within the expected MOE, which I said it would. Nothing has changed.

Our future cap is stil fricked and prevents us from being a title contender.

Lol, no it didnt. It rose well above where you expected. The history of the cap had to be listed for you LOL.

LOL. An extra 15 million from 240mill is a significant difference maker. Get real.

One thing consistent, is that you cannot predict the future. You of all posters especially.

You have chicken little catastrophe syndrome. Karens gotta Karen.

Not at all. It's within the expected MOE.

You're creating a straw man fantasy.

6.25%?

I understand basic math and the impacts of our cap strategy.

What is he wrong about? Every one understands they will make moves to get compliant. They do that by extending older, declining players. The concern is this strategy keeps the team from be legitimate contenders. Of course some will blame injuries or officiating of some other excuse. But the bottom line is the team hasn’t made the playoffs of cracked 10 wins in 3 years. Despite playing in a weak division and last year with a very easy schedule and they still didn’t make the playoffs. If you are celebrating “Loomising” what exactly are you excited about? Besides dunking on a poster on a message board? What makes you think this team can win at a high level in the near future?

He’s right. Football evaluations cost the team, not cap tinkering

Really, because when I was told we couldn’t keep Hendrickson on here it was because of our cap situation. If Loomis wouldn’t have us in a huge hole every year we could have easily slapped a franchise tag on him and kept him like I suggested.

We also lost Marcus Williams and tried to replace him with Maye because he was cheaper. That was an obvious downgrade.

Our drafts have sucked which has put a big spotlight on losing the few really good players we did draft and develop.

But hell, y’all keep on clapping and cheering for Loomising….

The sad thing is this isn't some master plan. They have backed themselves into this corner. They literally have to do this every year to even be compliant. Why can't they just take a year off and clear some of this money out just like Tampa did. They need a reset. You are starting every new league year with your hands tied behind your back.

100% correct. I can tell they have no plan or direction. Seems like they just winging it year to year. Loomis ego is so big he can’t see the forest through the trees. The Carr signing snd honey Badger signing should have never happened. Should have went cheap at qb and got this cap mess under control. How he thinks this is close to a championship roster I don’t know? He’s either delusional or is trying to prove that Payton wasn’t the reason for those winning years.

It’s makes sense to manipulate the cap to fit pieces next to Drew Brees

Doesn’t make sense to play with the numbers to accolade Derek Carr and 40 year old cam Jordan
