With this and the Carr restructure, Saints are now "ONLY" $40M over.

Loomis also celebrating that we're no longer last in cap space

This will do nothing to stop SFP’s continued rants about the cap.

I wish we could setup a debate between him and Hartley / loomis.

I’m interested in the language for the $74mm for performance based play. Is it strictly incentives, or things like roster and workout bonuses.

Why would it?

Do you think that I don't understand that the cap goes up?

If you're operating within the margins then the arguments about future value makes sense but with our incredibly large deficit every year, and the dead cap required to keep the strategy going, we are on the wrong side of EV in this scenario.

This is also not even mentioning about how we have to keep older players longer than they're valuable and run the risk of relying on presumptions about future player health and production.

Because you're wrong every year. Maybe you'll get 'em one day

The unprecedented $30M increase per club in this year’s Salary Cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season.

I just don’t get why it’s such a source of frustration for you.

The cap has been manipulated every year and is not preventing this team from contending. Loomis and Hartley have made it work every single year and we always hear how bad the situation is.

I’m far more concerned with the scouting, drafting, development, and general coaching of this team. That’s where we’re losing ground.

Because I want the Saints to become title contenders again.

It's not that complicated.

100% correct. Its just the HC and the GM that are doing that

It doesn't mean he is wrong. It would be nice if the Saints went into a season $30 million under the cap and were able to sign 2-3 key free agents.

He’s right. Football evaluations cost the team, not cap tinkering

You realize it's getting harder and harder to dig out of it every year. They are just adding more money to older player's contracts every year.

So when a guy like kamara is 29 or 30 ans you want to cut him, guess what, he has a cap hit of 30 mil. That's unheard of.

The sad thing is this isn't some master plan. They have backed themselves into this corner. They literally have to do this every year to even be compliant.

Why can't they just take a year off and clear some of this money out just like Tampa did. They need a reset.

You are starting every new league year with your hands tied behind your back.

Cap tinkering creates large annual dead cap hits that remove 10-15% of our cap space every season. It hurts out ability to create a championship-level roster.

We've felt the loss of guys we couldn't afford to keep because of this, even guys with reasonable contracts like Onyamatta and Davenport just last year. Now we're looking at spending a 1st round pick on DL b/c of our severe talent issues on the DL

Yea, Marcus Davenport was the difference maker for this team last year.
