Isn't the potential life in prison a bigger issue? Or did they drop the case or something? I didn't read the article, figured this is a discussion board anyway sorry

The NFL is full of pieces of shite that would be in jail if not for being good at sports. Forget the moral high ground, sign good players for cheap when you can.

For example, Tyreek Hill is a woman beater, child abuser, and deadbeat father. He had no trouble finding work in the NFL until his latest injury because he stayed out of prison.

So his first year contract will get discounted for the games he's suspended
But seriously, from a cap/cash perspective the biggest risk you would be taking is the signing bonus. Team would not be able to recover the singing bonus for these charges since they know about them before signing him.
Games suspended get discounted from your cap because he's ineligible and therefore does not get paid. If he's locked up/banned, his contract can then be terminated as I am sure they will be careful with any future guarantees knowing the charges.

He is a horrible corner. But, but, but, but, he played at Bama. But, but, but, but, the Lions drafted him as their #1 pick, he's a stud.
No he isn't.
They Lions knew they screwed up drafting this guy as soon as he showed up. He played last year because he had to, due to injuries. The Lions struggled on defense, and he was a HUGE disappointment. They dropped him like a bad habit the instant his criminal activity came to light.
This guys is not only a criminal idiot, he isn't worth the trouble.
They Saints should look elsewhere. I am embarrassed, as a lifelong fan of the Saints, that they even called his agent, much less kicked the tires on this fool.

Sign him up to a multi-year deal, with a clause that if he can't play he doesn't get shite. Even if he sits out half a year or a whole one, you get him the following year at a discount.
