Saints use Motion and PA the least of any team in the NFL

Underhill did a deep dive on the Saints offense and how they compare to modern offenses.

I do not subscribe, but the gist of what he uncovers is:

quote:

Did a study into the following topics:
-The Saints use of motion relative to league, previous seasons
-Lack of play action
-How the Saints are doing within their first 15 plays, and outside of those
-Lack of YAC
-Lack of Slants

Apparently the Saints are dead last in Motion and Play Action. Not sure on the other stuff.

But its stuff we know: this Offense is stale and just not up to par with what the best current offensive innovators are doing

Is Carl Smith alive? Can we bring him back?

The Dolphins look like they're playing another sport.

We tried one "Dolphins-esque" play on Sunday and Kamara lost about 10 yards.

The one where we snapped it to Taysom and he handed it off to Carr, and then Carr flipped it to Kamara for the loss? I guess so, who in their right mind would give any thought to Carr running? Maybe if they snapped it to Carr and he gave it to Taysom it would have worked better but we didn't do that. It's not frustrating at all.

Yeah it was bungled from the jump. Plus our oline can barely block a HB dive. They had no chance to block that.

That's the one where they had three guys closing in on him before he could even really turn it up field.

Meanwhile 2 of the best offenses (SF & MIA) run the shite out of motions and PA. Our coaches are stuck in the 2010's where wide open passing was the thing. Well, defenses have adjusted and we're left holding our nuts. Extreme athletes and speed rule the roost, but our staff is too obtuse to realize the trend. We have the dogs, let them run. We could easily implement a SF or MIA type of offense with our talent, but Pete has hit the road before that can happen. The latest NFL trend is the spread running game, supplemented by spread passing attacking the intermediate underneath routes in space. The old Sean Payton offense and the Brady/Moss offense is long gone.

It's a fricking trash offense that makes any qb look like shite. We've seen it for 2 fricking years now and the fricking idiots running the show on Airline are too fricking proud to admit they're fricking wrong.

Jameis Winston was average to good with bums at wr in 2021, then looked like arse with talent, Dalton looked like arse with talent, and now Carr looks like arse with talent.

It isn't the fricking qb, it's the one thing that will stop any amount of talent dead in its tracks: the fricking coaching staff.

The Dolphins run those type of plays with guys who run 4.2/4.3 forties. We tried it with a guy who runs 4.8.

Did you watch Kansas City and the New York Jets this past week. That was an enjoyable football game to watch featuring two teams which threw the ball down the field and use motion constantly. Our office is stuck in the dark ages.

Just watched Kamara on NOF YouTube. That’s the longest interview of him saying play calling sucks we all know it without actually saying it.

Lol.

Sounds like the team knows Pete’s play calling is killing them and not allowing them to have a chance to win.

Surprised to see this from Underhill considering he is simply a mouthpiece for the team 99% of the time.

Bad coaching, bad quarterback. Spells for another lost season.

I think Carr can be top third of the league with the right coaching.

He’s not good enough to overcome terrible coaching. Only a handful are.

If they would've just faked it to Carr taysom had green grass in front of him.

Nah, he’s been in the league for a decade plus. Scheme doesn’t make someone consistently late on throws. He’s overly timid.

One of my big gripes about him when we signed him. He’s mid at best at this point in his career making rookie mistakes without the upside of a top guy. Very average.

Enjoy the shots while you can take ‘em, lil guy. Pretty much everything you prognosticated about this season has been a burning bag of dog shite.
