There’s a lot of rumors that we were trying to trade up for an OT the past couple of days. Feels like we may have tried to trade up into the falcons spot for Fashanu or with the titans for Latham and it’s being spun as trying to get Penix.
Either that or we’re doing Terry Fontenot a solid by telling some reporters we were interested in penix so Fontenot can try to defend drafting him.

Man I'm glad it didn't happen. That would have probably done it for my Saints Fandom. Maybe I'm very wrong.but I don't see it in Penix.
I also don't buy that DA would be drafting for the future when he may not be around next year if he can't protect Carr enough to win more games.
I do believe they were trying to move up to get a different T. I also think they may have been trying to trade back because they used almost all their time on the clock.

Unless this is confirmed by a legitimate insider with verified sources on Airline Drive, I don't buy this. Mickey Loomis has never been a drafter of QB's with high picks and I cannot fathom how Michael Pennix would change that pattern. If they inquired to move up, my guess is it was for Alt.

Palmer was a top guy at NFL Network that just recently got let go along with the guy with huge ears and a few other people who did training camps.
It does seem odd that they would do that, considered the trade up talk from Jeremiah and McShay was for an OT, but I wouldn’t discount what Palmer is saying.
And I like Penix. I just worry about using a first round pick on a QB who has to have everything go right for him to be successful - guys like Tua, Goff, and soon to be Nix, Penix and McCarthy.

I don’t like Penix and didn’t want Penix but respect that someone has the balls to try to move up and get a QB.

Let's say it would have been the last straw. If DA had drafted a QB for the future (most people agree Penix needs a few years) it would have shown he is not as worried about his job as he should be. Like him or not Carr is the guy right now and they only have a couple returning OLine man in the roster. They have to try to protect him with that draft pick.
