with the new kickoff rules it favors Grupe and they can carry Smyth another year under the international category

Seemed like he got hyped last year and never did shite in spite of it. I guess we can add him to the all training camp hype squad.

I thought that was a very good fa signing last year. Guess his heart wasn’t in it. Or he couldn’t handle that LA heat.

Saints training camp: Sleepers to watch at every position on defense

The New Orleans Saints are in for a rather fascinating 2025 season, as they enter the year with a near totally revamped coaching staff, a pretty young roster compared to previous campaigns, and relatively low expectations all things considered. Many media outlets have already written them off for this year and are focused on how they can improve in the 2026 draft, but there are still 17 games, 18 weeks, and eight months until then.

I am really excited to see all these pieces come together.
The Saints desperately need to see improvement in their ability to stop the run. Our opponents were able to kill us with play action because of this.

The different Dline combos tried will be interesting.
Like is Broughton Godchaux and Williams the best run stopper?

We were the best in the NFL for years not that long ago. How quickly things can change.

It took no time to go from first to worst. We brought in two journeyman tackles ( Saunders and Sheperd)that never really stepped up.

I have heard a lot of positive on Broughton and Godchaux had a couple of exceptional years with Miami and the Patriots no so much with pass rush but high tackle numbers.

I guess he gave good answers?

Doesn't sound like Shough may have been having the best day. Haven't seen a lot about him except the one clip of him to Shaheed and then a bad play in the redzone

It is encouraging to hear that Haener Was doing well at practice because he is coming off that oblique injury. We need everybody to stay as healthy as possible.

I just got back from camp. A few observations:

Charlie Smyth missed 3 consecutive FG’s. Not sure of the distance, but probably all under 50 yards.
#98 - Mike Rumph Jr, had a very good day and blew up at least 3 plays.
Kamara doesn’t look like he lost anything, he looked very explosive to me.
Rico Payton had good coverage on multiple plays.
Quincy Wilson had a nice pick on what looked to be an attempted throw away out of the end zone by Rattler.
Juwan Johnson was often targeted and looked good each time.
Bub Means is a physical specimen. He took off his jersey towards the end of practice and almost every fan commented on his physique.
Jake Haener had the best day of the 3 QB’s . Shough didn’t do anything either great or horrible, he was just “meh” today. Rattler looked generally decent, but the INT was bad.

Yeah, I'm going to have to print out a roster for the first few games this year.
