Its almost the same trade they just made.

My point is trautman and a pick to move up one round.

It was just Trautman for the cost of swapping picks.

The way you phrased it makes it sound like we gave up 2 picks.

Hopefully Sean takes Kamara off our hands and gives us a decent trade too.

You said Payton is probably laughing at his development by the nimrods he left in charge.

That coach was a Payton guy.

And the only reason I could see to give him up is they really liked the guy that they would pick with the broncos pick.

I do agree it doesn't make much sense. I would've let him play out his contract.

I can't really see the trade going down that quickly.

Maybe Payton called and asked about trautman being available and they quickly worked the deal out. Does seem dumb imo. Obviously they told you what they thought of trautman.

Hope they have a good plan for half a Starting tight end. Juwan is mainly split out. Some people don't realize how important that inline tight end is to the run game.

And why are you giving him away to pick a guy unlikely to ever contribute.

Two things in that post Les.

One we didn't give him away.
Two your pissing in the well water and then saying its bad. You just dissed a guy projected 3rd/4th round we got late. Well no sh!t if he never pans out but at least we didn't waste a 3rd on him.

Do you like the offensive staff without Payton? I’m confused

His offensive assistants have always been puppets. And just about all of them have crashed when they went out on their own. Dan Campbell remains to be seen

No its not. Moving up to the third-fourth is a lot harder than swapping late 6th round picks. I mean heck that would be amazing if they could pull that off, they didn’t because honestly again no would accept that trade.

Not negative, just a puzzling move considering the pieces at TE. Giving away a guy that is clearly worth a roster spot on an nfl team.

Payton had 2 seasons to develop Trautman, he can have as many as he wants now. In what universe do you keep someone who was supposed to be a starter when in 43 games in 3 seasons you squeeze out 60 rec. for 640 yds for 4 tds. I guarantee they can find a better TE in free agency.

Trautman could have been an ok option if juwan needs a breather or god forbid gets hurt. The free agent market has 0 tight ends. They better have a plan with some UDFAs. This Saints regime is going to take a ton of shite next year real quick if we look like the old sloppy mess that it seems like we’re going to be.

Trautman screams replacement level, not very worried.

Go Google remaining free agents and find a TE. Not one under 30 years old and it’s headlined by MyCole Pruitt. Trautman was our best TE because we haven’t drafted well in a while. It’s ok to admit when your team is fricking up

Trautman is not a reliable TE, dude.

I’d say 90% of this board is still quick to defend the saints FO anytime someone criticizes them like when anyone second guessed their choices the past couple nights. I don’t see that continuing when we look like shite again this year. I don’t see how we are going to get much better before the season starts. And the draft picks don’t even have the ceilings to be better than their replacements. Foskey projects to be what Davenport was not even what he could have been. Maybe Bresee can be better than Onyemata? Miller certainly can’t be better than Kamara in his prime. We think Carr is going to be as good as Brees at his age?

Reliable? I’m not saying he’s Antonio Gates, but he’s more reliable than what we have behind Johnson for gods sakes

Absolutely, but Hill already is a better TE than that.

I think the bigger issue is not playing him more at TE as if we were holding him back for something. Hill has shown he can block and catch. Use him.

We saved money and got a decent sized WR graded in the third. TE def one of the thinnest positions now but hopefully there’s a plan. Losing your mind over Trautman is odd.

I completely agree. I’ve gotten blasted because I don’t just fall in line to everything Loomis does. I swear they win a championship in 2009 and 14 years later the saints front office can do no wrong. If you criticize something, you’re just complaining and being negative lol Thats fine when we have shitty seasons in a row let’s see how many of these postive Saints do everything great posters we still have.

People act like he was running routes on every down. He was basically a blocking tight end, which he is pretty good at.

He made some plays in the passing game last year. Rightly they view juwan as the superior receiver but they still need to find a solid te2 that catch black well and make tough catches.

Im sure they can find someone
I'd just like to know when they knew they were going to trade him or when the discussions started.
