Per @CharlesRobinson on Caleb Farley, says he's hearing Saints might move up to get him. And that Saints feel they may need to move ahead of Titans to get it done

Important to add here, Charles says Saints have been "leaky" in recent years and a lot of the pre-draft info on their leanings has been accurate

I see he opted out last season.

What are his injury concerns? I assume minor?

While CB is probably the largest gaping hole we have had in the draft in a LONG time...

We cannot move up. This team's depth is at a low point over the last few years given the cap constraints.

We need MORE cheap young talent, not less. This is the year where they need to stay put or move back.

This isn’t even remotely true. Ruiz and Davenport came out of nowhere.

Nah.

We knew about Davenport morning of from Zoltan on here.

We heard some rumblings on Ruiz and several people on here predicted him as the pick based on that.

2 back surgeries. HUGE risk. In a draft where Saints need as many good players as possible, trading up for an injury risk seems fricking stupid to me.

Then again, they may only like 3 corners in the draft and they'll all be gone by 25ish

Trade value chart would put the value somewhere around a 3rd and a 4th to move up, or a 3rd and a future 3rd.

Could take slightly more.

If there is anything the Saints have shown, its that they are not shy about trading up to get their guy. We found out after the fact that the Saints really liked AJ Terrell and thought he would get to them. Good corners go early, so if you need one, you probably gotta move up to get one.

Virginia Tech CB prospect Caleb Farley's stock one of biggest questions in 2021 NFL Draft

“Ultimately, some team will take a leap of faith on an uber-talented player who also had an ACL tear in 2017 and plays a speed position. That medical profile raises short- and long-term questions, even though most teams agree Farley should be ready for the 2021 season, if not by the start of camp. It’s just hard to predict how his back will hold up over an NFL season and over the course of his career, especially since he hasn’t played a game in 17 months.”

Payton wouldn't let this shite leak if that was indeed the plan. He has something up his sleeves

I agree with Bunchie though. Don’t get me wrong. I love Farley but we kind of need every pick we can get right now. I’d rather see them let the draft come to them and see what’s there at 28. A good player will fall

Meh...don’t think trading up usually makes sense unless it’s for a QB. Like someone else said too many holes to be trading out picks.

I would agree but i think jeff ireland loves farley. I would hate to lose that 3rd rounder with this being a deep draft but farley is that guy.

They kinda put themselves in this position. They have to get an elite corner.

He probably has him as cb1 or cb2 if he is willing to move up 10 spots.

I've been saying i don't see how the saints pass on farley.

The Saints really just don't move back under Payton, they move up. And obviously they have been successful.

So I could see them doing it.

I just really don't think this is the year for it. We have got to stockpile cheap depth.

If anything, move back from 28 with a team that wants to draft a QB at the end of Round 1, get an extra pick or 3, get more shots at it.

But they almost certainly won't do that.

Saints may view Farley as the best CB in the draft. Getting him around pick 21 is good value assuming they feel good about his injury situation.

Depends on the team.

On THIS team, it depends on what you see as a bigger need:

Desperate need for cheap depth

v

Desperate need for CB in particular

Quality of a starting CB is way more needy than cheap depth for a team at any point in time.

UDFAs will have to be the focus of depth if Saints trade away any more picks. Usually pretty good at identifying those guys anyway so...could see them trading up and using UDFAs as special team/depth guys.

I don't know if I would go that far. Clearly there was enough information out there to convince the Chiefs they needed to make a huge jump from 27 to 10 to get ahead of New Orleans to select Mahomes.

Yes, Brees was getting up in age at the time of the draft, but he was just coming off a season where he threw for 2nd most yards in his career and 4th most TDs. The Saints were coming off of three straight losing seasons, but it CLEARLY because of their terrible defense. No one was really anticipating the Saints would be in the market for a QB...yet, KC somehow knew they were.
