Figured this was coming. They can't have been happy with Brown and Smyth's performance this camp

Glad that they aren’t ignoring the problem and are trying to address the issue.

Underhill has said several times over the past couple of weeks that he thought there was a high chance the Kicker wasn't on the roster at the moment.

Some stats to know
72-73 under 29 (5-5 in 2025) 98.6%
62-65 30-39 (6-6 in 2025) 95.4%
54-70 40-49 (6-8 in 2025) 77%
37-51 50+ (5-8 in 2025) 72.5%

His long last year was 60.
He’s missed 1 or 2 XPs per year. He’s pretty much automatic from 40 and in.

For reference league average for kickers is

20-29 96%
30-39 94%
40-49 84%
50+ 69%

For what is on the roster… I’d take an average kicker because it seemed like we were about to have the worst kicker in the league. He’s better than average in most distances and slightly under in mid range. He shouldn’t lose us games like Smyth might’ve

I guess the 40-49 average is why he was currently out of the league

Yeah. This seems like a no brainer.

Honestly, I might sign two vet options and choose between those two.

Yeah he’s average and maybe slightly above average with a good long snapper which we have. Def better than Brown and Smith

Sometimes kickers just need a reset. Lutz was starting to struggle at the end of his time here, been lights out for Denver ever since.

The way I see it, if Carlson wins it out than we will stash one of the guys on PS.nobody is going to go crazy over either

I wonder if Smyth still has the overseas player development exemption for a roster spot

True, but 6 of 8 is not a huge sample size. He makes one of those two misses at suddenly he's 88% at that range.

Smyth was $$$ last year. Sad to see him decline so quickly.

Average kicker becomes above average playing for Saints simply bc half the games +1 will be in a dome and all division road games will be in warm weather areas.
