Perhaps a injury to a backup or the backups we hoped to grow and improve are not in Staleys system.

Isn't Staleys defense considered one of the more difficult to learn and handle? Seems I read that last year.

Staley is a Vic Fangio disciple
I do remember there was a learning curve for the defense last year and I'm not really sure at what point in the season it was but it did seem like they were all back on the same page and started playing pretty well especially towards the end of the year.
Ellis is a linebacker that really can be a jack of all trades. I think they will probably move him around. I don't know about constantly moving him around but it's not like he's just going to be the mike linebacker and that's all he does you know what I mean?

Yeah his bread and butter is a rover who excels at QB preasure. I hope to see more of Stuts. I think he's a starter in this league.

I could see the last two not making it...maybe they wanted some more veteran leadership there?
