Article "highlights:"

quote:

The New Orleans Saints are good, but they're not that good. Their superiority in the NFC is buttressed by dominance within the walls of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. And though Drew Brees and Co. are 7-1 on the road this season, they are far more vulnerable away from home.

quote:

Yet, the Saints' performance the last three weeks shouldn't sit well if the team is incapable of securing home-field advantage.

quote:

So, securing the conference's top seed with one victory among the two remaining regular-season games isn't just a priority for the Saints; it's a necessity.

And the moment you realize the Saints have the best road record in the entire NFL:

7-1 on the road should have been the stat that ended this article.

The idea the Saints are the only team in the NFL that plays better at home than on the road is laughable

Saints are 7-1 on the road, 5-1 at home.

Dumb article.

Is it possible to write an entire article of “no shite” statements?

quote:

Kamara's running and ability to make defenders miss helped the Saints secure their 12th victory, as he accumulated 36 rushing yards and the game-winning touchdown during New Orleans' final two drives (excluding the game-ending quarterback kneel) against Carolina.

The Saints' solid defense did the rest.

The Panthers only managed 247 yards of total offense. One has to wonder if the outcome would have been different had Cam Newton been healthy. The quarterback is dealing with a bum shoulder and couldn't drive the ball with any consistency. The Saints took advantage. But they'll face healthier quarterbacks in the postseason.

quote:

All of these road struggles will be moot in the NFC playoffs if the Saints earn the No. 1 seed.

I'm not gonna shite on a writer for saying the same thing we've all been saying.
Let's face it, our offense has not looked amazing on the road.
So, Saints fans can point that out, but B/R can't?

What offenses have looked great tho? It’s December late in the season. People get to caught up in the numbers from September and October and every year they go down in December.

I can see it now....

Saints whup Steelers, then rest everyone in week 17, letting the Panthers steal a win over the waterboy and 2nd string trainers.

Road record: 7-1
Home record: 6-2

Then, going into the first playoff game, the media will seize on: "I like [so-n-so wildcard team] going into the Superdome. Saints actually play worse there than on the road."

Someone get this to Stephen A. Smith, stat.

I have a feeling that if this story were written about New England or Dallas it would read something like "Great teams find a way to win despite adversity"

Nothing but biased hacks.

I mean, road games are difficult. It's not rocket science. We haven't performed very well on the road as of late. Despite that were still 2-1 across a period we haven't played at home going on a month and 7-1 now on the season. Not to mention two road division games back to back.

Our "road woes" are way overplayed and when they're stated without much nuance it's just lazy reporting. Everyone looked vulnerable this past weekend yet we pulled out the win with the best defense in the league

So...

1) Defenses play better at home
2) 14 games in, defenses are figuring out offenses
3) Offensive players get banged up and their absence hurts

What a crazy development. I'm sure that hasn't ever happened in the NFL before.

There's truth to this only because there's truth to it for every team.

But I don't know why it wasn't written about, say, the Rams.

Bleacher Report was pretty bad before CNN bought it. It doesn't look to have improved since either.
