Saints converted over $8 million of Marcus Davenport’s $9.553 million base salary into a signing bonus to create $6.8144M in 2022 salary cap space, per source.
I would think this takes him out of any potential Texans deal.

Team is officially below the cap now, even with the Deonte deal on the books! Zero cuts.

Creating space for Winston

I have a feeling the price for Watson may not be quite as steep as thought. There’s more leverage from both the player and acquiring team than usual.
I really believe the picks will be substantial, but I can see only one active player being involved. May be wishful thinking. I just don’t know how hard Houston can push if Watson walks in and says “Saints only”.
The Saints are in a good spot then. And I hardly think at this point Houston would turn down just the picks, honestly. Maybe the Saints toss in Ruiz or someone like Turner, but I don’t think it’ll crush our roster.

Yeah nvm, I miscalculated it, they’ll need another move if you include the Deonte move
Edit: Underhill just confirmed on Twitter so yeah we aren’t yet. Sorry!

They were going to have to create space regardless for whomever they bring in so this just means Davenport likely wouldn't have been part of the deal.

Ceedy, Adebo, Ruiz, Turner are players that could be involved it seems.

Hopefully Davenport has good injury luck this year. He's, basically, the best player on our defense imo.

People underrate out linebackers. Demario and Kwon the best backers in the NFC and I’ll die on that hill. If we can bring honey badger in to play with CJJ imagine how nasty that defense will be.

I'd like to keep Ceedy
All the others can go if needed

I think ceedy will stay. I really do.

Ceedy would be the one that would concern me the most. You obviously move him for Watson, but this defense was very different with him out last season.

If they take Ceedy I’m gonna be pissed

CGJ would be a hit to the secondary on top of losing Williams.
