If you have the 3rd or 4th draft pick in the nfl draft next year….and a very prominent QB or 2…is available …..

Do you select a QB after just burning your 2nd round draft pick on a QB the previous year ???

Essentially admitting drafting a QB in the 2nd round previous year was a big mistake.

Would be quite interesting to see what decision they make !!

That's the main reason I wasn't a fan of the QB pick. You just drafted an OT to sure up the line. Let Rattler take the helm and then you can see what you actually have in him. If you suck, you get a top QB in 26 draft.

Knowing what we know now, they should have went DE/CB/WR and then could have gotten Sanders in the 4th/5th.

If that QB has a higher upside than what you have on the roster, you pick him. Even if you just spent a 2nd rounder on Shough.

If the new guy is waaaaay better than Shough, then make Shough the #2 or trade him. It’s the most important position. You do what you gotta do.

I don’t think Arch comes out next year. The Mannings don’t need the money, they aren’t going to want to rush Arch into the pro’s after only 1 full season starting. I know it’s his decision but he’s got some good people guiding him and why not make sure he’s fully prepared to play in the NFL. I think 2027 is more likely to be the year he enters the draft.

Shough >>>> Rattler. Rattler is the very definition of a 5th round QB. Poor play, bad measurables. The dude went 0-6. You owe him nothing.

it ain't even close to a tough draft decision in the hypothetical that:
We have a high enough draft pick.
Saints are in position to get a QB they deem worthy and like
Carr in no way will be back next year.
Haener or Rattler will easily not be a part of the team's plan in 2026 should that happen.
Having Shough and a rookie qb is not a problem whatsoever. If that is what is deemed needed and Shough hasn't proven enough to make passing on a qb that high an option

You always take a QB. QB should be drafted every year until team find all pro.

Once you use a second round pick on a qb you can't pick a qb for 5 years. I think that's the rule.

Saints are gonna surprise with CKM this year and make a run at the playoffs. If you got your guy you take him. No guarantee of a low pick next year.

What a retarded question, the reason the Shough pick is good is because it’s only a 2nd rd pick… he’s got top level traits, let him play this year and see what you’ve got, and you don’t have so much invested that if he doesn’t work you are hindered from picking a qb high next year.

That’s a lot of greater thans for these numbers

Rattler vs Shough College

399 vs 389 attempts
68.9 vs 62.7comp%
19 vs 23 TDs
8 vs 6 INT
8 vs 8.2 Y/A
147.7 vs 148.1 QB rating

Rattler 23 y/o in SEC
Shough 25 y/o in the ACC

Is Shough really the RAS pick everyone said Loomis & Ireland avoided this year?

Rattler, you can't be serious. Slough will be the starting QB, and if he doesn't pan out, then you draft another QB in 2026. It's a win win situation.

this is a dumb arse take. If you are going to take a shot on a guy, the 2nd has shown to be a place where you can get amazing value. If he doesn't pan out, you didn't burn a 1. QB and other positions are not the same when it comes to draft capital.

If you played Shough all year and did not see any signs of improvement to build on, you move on and get the next guy. If you let him sit and develop/learn and had a few starts, you do not rule out a new QB and do your due diligence and determine what you believe to be the best course of action. We have seen it happen time and time again (around the league, not with the Saints), just because a QB is rated as a top 5 pick, does not mean they will be a lock either.

If you end up going the new QB route, the Shough pick still is not a complete bust as the back-up QB is a crucial position on a team. If that new QB n 2026 becomes your stud, and Shough is your #2, you now have a QB room under rookie contracts for 3 more years.

If Shough showed enough promise to build on and you do not see any of the new rookies as being mush better than him, then you start looking at the top DTs or edge rushers in the draft.

If he isn't a 1st round grade, you take a QB every year until you find one.

Even if you got one, take one, lol.

Taking a flyer on a QB is never a bad idea.

Only 359 days, and an entire NFL season, too early to ask this question.

Rattler is a 5th round pick drafted by a different coaching staff. He’s a backup.
