I said we needed another run stuffer, this is a decent pickup. Wont move the needle but needed depth.

The more I look at this trade the more I like it.
IMO Ridgeway is not just a stopgap player until Saunders get back. The Saints are going to have ot make decisions on both Saunders and Shepherd after this season and really neither is out performing their contracts.
With Boyd and Ridgeway in the wings it could make sense to move on and get younger and (lighter in the contract) with one or both Saunders and Shepherd.
There's no reason to think Bresee won't continue his progress and Kendal Vickers looked like a potential depth guy to develop.
The Saints only gave up a 6th and got a 7th back also.
I expect Ridgeway and Boyd to get some really good looks this season and hopefully they grab the opportunity as it comes.
