With Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy eligible to talk to other teams after midnight Tuesday, there still haven’t been any negotiations on a new deal with Dallas, per sources. It’s now looking like McCarthy will indeed become a coaching free agent, with Chicago and New Orleans both expected to be interested in speaking with him.

This would be the most Loomis hire possible

Yeah. It would be a great “continuity” hire……………….

As in continuing our trend of mediocrity that existed back in like 2005 when McCarthy left to coach the packers. That same mediocrity has resurfaced the last few years.

He’s probably the best we can do considering what we look like.

This roster and cap are a dumpster fire.

Big Mike will be high on most teams list now.

Bears requested permission and were turned down by Jones last week to interview him. The Bears wouldn't have jumped out there and requested if they thought McCarthy wouldn't seriously give them consideration.

Bears might be attractive to Mike for a number of reasons.

lol

McCarthy will be considered one of the top 3 candidates out there. Proven success trumps unknown w/ high upside in the NFL HC game.

Coming from Dallas I doubt dealing with the owners of the Raiders or Jets will be high on his list.

Bears
Jags
Saints

Is how I would expect him to rank the jobs

I don’t think the jags are going to be that into him given the recent Pederson failure.

The Bears' job is pretty attractive. I would expect that would be his first choice.

Isn’t Jacksonville in a weird spot where the head coach will report directly to the owner and not the GM?

Seems like some meddling there McCarthy might not want to deal with.

Chicago is probably number 1 on his list.

Don Yee - wasn't (or isn't) that Payton's agent?

If he were to come, I wonder if he brings Zimmer with him.

The opposite. Khan doesn’t meddle at all. He’s a lot closer to a Gayle than a Jerry. There is a lot of speculation that the coach would report to him to be more attractive since so many people apparently don’t like Baalke the gm.

This could shake things up nicely. It does open up Dallas but I still think Johnson would favor Chicago over Dallas simply because no one wants to deal with Jerry and Johnson was already pretty picky about jobs.

I’m curious as to who Jerry goes after. He doesn’t seem like he would be interested in Brady or Glenn.

Meh. I put him middle of the pack of all candidates. Which puts him at the top of our reach, but within our reach due to his past with us.
