Saints currently oldest team in NFL

As it stood yesterday oldest was the Saints at avg. of 27.4 in age. Youngest was Tampa at 25. 13 rookies on their squad
thats how you tan... er rebuild.
But for us it makes sense as we have decided to basically roll with what we have for several years now.

Is the gap between 27.4 and 25 really that much?

Since we are going the old and wise route, the expectation from both the fanbase and ownership should be Super Bowl or bust
Anything less and Dennis Allen should be gone

In the NFL that’s basically 3 years which is a lifetime. In real life it’s insignificant. In NFL think more like dog years

My immediate reaction was - it has to be the Jets - Rogers, Morstead, Zuerlein, Woods, Duane Brown - that team is AARP old.
I checked today and - its the Jets. Resigning Morstead must have tipped them over. But i was shocked how close.

The gap isn't crazy, but bigger than you might think.
I broke it like this for easy math:
Team 1 has 53 players all 25 years old for an average of 25.
Team 2 has 40 players at 25 years old and 13 players at 35 years old for an average of 27.45.
Team 1 is basically all guys in their first 5 years.
Team 2 is a mix of mostly guys in their first 5 years with a decent number of key vets.
While Team 1 on the surface appears better off long term, that's only if their young guys pan out, largely without veteran leadership.
But Team 2 will have key pieces needing to be replaced sooner than later, so the hope is the young guys behind them are learning well.

I dont think the number is a true reflection of our team being old
Cam, Demario, and Badger are 3 of the players that come to mind pushing us the most in that direction and while their age is a concern it is something the organization is aware of
Almost everyone else of significance is either in their primes or below our average age

The numbers I put weren't necessarily even us, just a version of a team that has the same average as us.
And you listed what I said, we have a few key older vets that are still playing at a high level that pushes our average up.
I actually prefer the better mix of youth and experience over all/mostly youth. The youth movement lacks leadership and on field experience to pass on.
But at the same time, guys like DD and Cam are nearing the end and we do need to find replacements in the next couple of years (if we haven't already).
Edit: In other words, 40 out of 53 is still damn young overall, just with the added benefit of key vets.

I saw a graphic the other day that showed that the Colts do not have a player over the age of 30.
That’s hard to even pull off on Madden. I’m kind of surprised that they aren’t the youngest roster.

That's what I thought. The difference from oldest to youngest being a couple years doesn't matter much to me.

It’s not insignificant at all for an individual especially in the skill players. Now if a handful of aging guys is bringing up the numbers I’d think that’s fairly insignificant.
