I think bell is gone. Panthers were talking with him and they just released Reid as well. Us bringing Malcolm back imo shuts the door on bell. Hope not though

But if their contracts are largely the same, should have stuck with Bell.

They won't even be close. Bell will likely get double the guaranteed money, at a minimum.

The last 4 seasons/since Vonn entered the NFL:

Jenkins (4230 snaps)
83.2 OVR grade
90.8 Cov. grade
77.1 Run Def. grade
60.3 Pass Rush grade

Bell (3452 snaps)
68.9 OVR grade
56.3 Cov. grade
90.2 Run Def. grade
80.7 Pass Rush Grade

It should be noted that 50% of CGJ snaps came at slot corner, where he was very good. Is he really going to be a “safety” in the future? Not sure if we count him or not. Guess it depends if Robinson bounces back and reprises that slot CB role

100% this. I almost wish we’d bring in Kaepernick so some of these dipshits would go away for good.

Really do not like this move. I would much rather invest in a 25 year old Bell who is clearly on a steep incline over a declining 32 year old. Jenkins left Philly because he was threatening to hold out for more money and said he would not play on his current contract that was paying him $8 or $9 million. This is going to be a huge overpay.

If our D-Line & LB's can stuff the run...it's much better to have Jenkins at Safety over Vonn Bell.

CGJ is damn good in run support as well. This could end up being a very good thing.

That's the only thing I'm worried about.

Jenkins will not be cheaper than vonn bell

Thing is they are 2 different types of players

The problem with nailing some of those drafts, just not feasible to keep everyone.

I like bell but would you consider him an integral part of the incoming rebuild? I’ll take the better coverage vet on a short term deal.

He's still 32 now.

And still a good player and leader which we need on defense. I think we can get another couple good years from him which align with the end of the Brees years. Win now move imo

People say this but vonn bell and Malcolm Jenkins are very different players.
It's not an either or situation to me

They obviously wanted something different and cgj can take vonn Bell' s snaps
Also like the fact that Jenkins will help out Marcus Williams
He has been through all the wars and will help call the defense on the backend

The money is going to be alot though, that's the only thing

Not thrilled.

Jenkins constantly took bad angles during his tenure here.

Bell gone people. But think of it like this, we may get a 4th or 5th comp pick for Bell and Jenkins was cut so it doesn’t hurt the comp pick formula. I would think Jenkins will be cheaper than Bell also.

Jenkins coming back would be a great move. He’s a real leader for a secondary that desperately needs one. Bell is younger but Jenkins is a win-now signing and a proven veteran presence.

I would say what Jenkins wanted in Philly does not equal what the market bore for him. Likely not even close.

That's a great point.

Even if I prefer Bell.

I think people are going to be shocked how much Bell is paid. It will be very large.

If it wasn't, we would have kept him. Its going to be outrageous.
