Have to see how much we’re paying Jenkins, but I can’t believe there’s any way we bring Bell back now. I’m not sure I get this move, really. But we’ll have to see this contract and what Bell winds up signing for first, I guess.

Losing bell would be Jenkins all over again.

Let's have both. They both can play multiple positions along with CGJ.

Per rotoworld...

Jenkins can fit into any defense thanks to his versatility, as the 32-year-old safety has regularly seen snaps as a linebacker, slot corner, strong safety and free safety over the years.

24. New Orleans Saints – Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
If Vonn Bell leaves in free agency and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson stays in a nickel role, safety becomes a question mark for the Saints. McKinney will have spacing issues in coverage, but he limits mental mistakes, especially vs. the run as a downhill tackler.

Bell is gone... I kind of saw this coming. I’m thinking bell wanted too much money so saints jumped on Jenkins when he got released. I would imagine we would get Jenkins for relatively cheap bc he is getting up there in age.

Good thing is that Jenkins is better in coverage than Vonn Bell.

Vonn Bell was a beast against the run & had a knack for causing & recovering fumbles.

This reminds me of Kurt Coleman.

Coleman was limited before he got to the Saints. Jenkins is still playing at a high level and his versatility and leadership will be good for the rest of the secondary.

Not sure how to feel about this. He had a good year last year, unquestioned he would immediately be a leader with Davis and Cam, but he’s also 32 and declining and no telling what kind of contract he wants (likely expensive) and lets be honest, Bell wasn’t the weak point in the secondary and he’s younger.

And we have CGJ.

He developed into an even better player after he left. I wouldn’t be opposed to this

He's still 32 now.

This has to be the reason for the move and if it is, I’m cool with it as long as Jenkins is cheaper. I think he would be an upgrade this year but the years following, you never know. Both Sharper and Ed Reed’s last good years were at 34. So we’d basically get two years out of Jenkins before needing to replace him, which is fine considering Brees will be gone by then anyway

It should really improve our pass coverage. As long as Jenkins is still legit in run support...this could be a sneaky good signing. Hopefully, we can get 2 more good years out of Jenkins.

I'm very curious about the money though.

That’s the only thing that worries me. If it’s a couple of million different than Bell, I’m cool with it. But if their contracts are largely the same, should have stuck with Bell.

Still, at this moment, Jenkins is a better leader and a better player. But he could be out of the league in two years. Bell will still be playing
